Check for driver updates of the USB modem. This sounds like something's telling the hardware to do something wrong and it's panicing and rebooting. I'd think the modem is sending something bad.
Also.. get a spyware sweeper + virus scanner + firewall for your machine. It could be possible somebody is causing you to reboot.
