you're going to get the yes and no answers from this group...
if you do decide to partition, just a word of advice.... make your OS partition 5GB or bigger.
even though XP will fit in a smaller partition, be aware that there are patches and updates (lots of 'em) from microsoft. there'll probably be about 40 needed right from the get-go.
