Most academic versions are the same as "regular" versions. Some companies don't allow you to get the upgrade pricing on academic versions; they track the serial number so that you can't get the upgrade. Sometimes it's cheaper just to buy another academic version rather than upgrade anyway. I'm not sure about Adobe products with regard to upgrades.

You are NOT supposed to sell anything you create with academic versions of software.

You are supposed to upgrade to a non-academic version when you are no longer a student or faculty.
