Does anyone make REAL Freddy Krueger gloves???

Hey there...I wanna go see Freddy VS Jason...I have read 2 scripts that weren't used...the first one was alright but the second one was even better...I was hoping that this one was gonna be the best...

So that got me to remembering that when I was younger that I always wanted a real Freddy glove...that would be cool to slice branches off trees and maybe cut metal things like cans and stuff...and cut open watermelons and stuff like that...I remember my brother had something like that...but it was plastic blades...maybe soemone knows how to MAKE them???

Oh well...I'm asking this cause I am bored and have nothing to do...THANX

It would be really tough to do well... metal and leather don't mix well because the metal when stressed will always rip the leather... Maybe if the blades wrapped around the fingers and were supported by that instead of the leather...

Not that I know of. It might not be that hard though if you know the right people. Hell, Freddy made one and he didn;t seen that smart...

I think if you attached the blades (solder, weld) the knife part to some rings., inside or outsde of the leather, would work best.. that way they would be sturdy as well..

Hmmm....yeah...rings would work...just weld the blades to the rings and attach them to the leather...I'd have to paint the rings to make it look like the leather so it'd be camoflauged a bit...

now what kind of blades should I use??? hmmmm...interesting...what would you guys suggest???

Hmm, what i would do... Is weld it to the rings then slide it inside the glove.... and just poke out the finger... or something.

and yea n one of the movies.. it does show freddy making the glove.

if you want to make a "Freddy" glove cheap, get a set of Ginsu steak knives. then get a heavy duty leather glove(s) from, say, Sears. follow what Freddy does in Nightmare on Elm Street (the original, intro sequence). You might want to do a double layer of leather for protection, tho.

There was a custom knifemaker making one a few years ago- I think it was a guy out of south africa- the blades were set up so they could not fold back past the point your fingers are supposed to go by means of a steel plate on the back of the glove... damn thing was priced at over a grand though....

yeah, that's normal - if you watched the early bit in Nightmare, Freddy fused the blades to what appeared to be small metal cups, which fit over the ends of the figners, and which went inside the fingertips of the glove. also, he included a hinge for the fingers, with some metal plating, so the "glove" would basically have a metal backing on the top of the hand and fingers, yet the fingers would be flexible enough to move. My guess is that you could make one for under a hundred, easily, though making it look exactly like Freddy's... that's a bit different.

I built one of these a few years ago. The best thing that I found to use for the blades was (surprisingly) the stainless steel spatulas that are used in baking cakes. They are about sixinches long and about two wide. just cut to shape with your trusty belt grinder and dremel a inch long notch in the end that attaches to the tip of the copper finger, slide it on, sodder, and away you go!

Oh, The fingers were made of sheet copper that was bent over a dowel rod to shape it then the joints were pop riveted together and provided a nice smooth articulation. same for all four fingers and a piece of copper for the back of the hand that was riveted to a leather glove. It took about six hours to make and cost about thirty bucks. Looks and works as the real thing.

I had a friend who made one of these in High school, (about 10 years ago). His mom made him fold over the metal so that they would not be the least bit sharp. He's been contemplating making another version, this time a bit more um, shall we say, dangerous...

monkeysugar - Damn nice find. Now you have cursed me with the plight of wanting to make one for myself. Even though I never cared for the movies I'm a sucker for arms and armor and this is just too tempting of a project.

Yeah, now that I got a good idea of what the glove actually looks like I'm somewhat intrigued myself. The thing has absolutely no practical purpose, but it looks damn cool. I don't suppose it would be too hard to do. I would imagine the blades could pretty easily be made out of old straight razors ground to shape, or if one were really ambitious, ground from stock steel.

When I first read the topic I thought, "Great. That's just what we need - another nut-case that's gonna make all gun/knife/weapon collectors/hobbyists look like sociopaths." But then I thought about it again, and the Freddy Krueger gloves ... is a rather interesting project from an academic perspective.

First off, I think only the first film was any good. The rest were boring.

So off the top of my head you should note that a knife-glove depends on good support for each blade. I'd look into orthopedic resources for support and articulating mechanisms for wrist and fingers. The glove itself is not an issue - it's not going to support any weight of the knives and just serves to cover the internals.

I'd start with a good wrist brace from which you can construct articulations that parallel the metacarpals and fingers over the dorsum (back) of the hand.

Still, as I recall, the knives were extensions of the fingertips - more like long fingernails than wolverine (x-men) claws. The only problem there is that they really depend on the strength of your fingers to be effective at all and all the joints and braces have to be particularly strong.

I just bought a freddy glove yesterday. The glove costed $50 and it's a pretty good replica. The glove is leather and metal. They sell them at halloween stores. I've seen them at three differen stores. Well worth the money. Ver realistic. The blades are not sharp, but glove looks very real.

If anyone knows where to get foam latex freddy appliance let me know. I find a freddy kit everywhere, but it's just the top part of the face. i'm looking for something more authentic.

Just an update on my Nightmare Gloves purchase.
I placed my order 2 months ago.
Every time I contact the maker (in Denmark) he tells me he's still working on them - either waiting for a particular type of solder or bronze pieces. Last week he said he was 2 days from completion.
*sigh*
I guess they're a lot more relaxed in Denmark.

The website quotes an estimated wait of 2 weeks. It's been 2 months since my order.
