Certification
Hey, gotta question. I know that there's your A++ and your Microsoft certification programs, but what do they have for Linux? I'm interested in learning more about this software and I figured I might as well get certified at the same time. Note that this is coming from a guy in Toronto, Canada (just in case there are any nationality/regional differences in programs available). Anyone have any idea?

I am doing my CCNA (Cisco) at the moment and if you can find a place to sit it - I recomend it
I have learned a lot about 'the interweb' in general and have a better understanding of how networks work in general

Another linux certification to think about would be from The Linux Professional Institute. I have no idea about it, I just remember seeing something maybe on slashdot about it quite some time ago. The reason I'm pointing it out is that I believe that they try to be distro neutral with is a good thing imho.

MCSE=Must Contact Someone Experienced. I attempted MCSE as a hobby. Quit when it became too expensive. I still read the books though, they have pretty pictures.
The Linux links posted can help me also, as I want to wean myself from Microsoft. |

I have my RHCE and I will tell you, unless you really know linux well I would not start with this cert. I do not know how hard the RHCA is but if you really want a linux cert. that is probably the place to start. RedHat cert's are really respected through the industry since it is performance based instead of just taking a couple multiple choice tests.
A CCNA isn't what it used to be, but it will give you a good understanding of the basics of network engineering. |
