I can't believe I just did that.

I am an awful, terrible, horrible person. At least, that's how I feel right now.

Went out to the pub tonight. Drank some Bass, played a few rounds of pool (two really awesome games, two really baaaad games. I'm so hit or miss when it comes to pool.)

Saw some people that I haven't seen in a while, including Joe*. He's a pretty cool guy, except for his tendency to drink himself into oblivion.

He was completely, totally trashed. His ride left, drunk. Closing time came around, and since I had a general idea of where he lived, I said I'd take him (and another friend who was drunk. Why do I always end up taking care of drunk people?)

Joe was so completely out of it that he couldn't tell us where he lived. I'll give him a little bit of credit, he DID recently move. I tried to coax it out of him, but he remembered nothing. I asked him for his license, but he didn't have it on him. I got his cell phone and started calling his...

Karaoke Queen

Posted 06-03-2009 at 06:35 PM by CinnamonGirl (Story of a Girl)

I love to sing. I don't know how to play any instruments (I'd like to learn bass, but I kind of need to buy one first), and I don't have a band. Therefore, I go to karaoke.

School is out for the summer next week, and I have a plan. It's something I've wanted to do for a while, but haven't had the money or the time to try: Week of Karaoke.

I have my normal places on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The place I like to go dancing has Thursday night karaoke; the guy I go to on Tuesday nights (and has been my longest-running karaoke dj...seriously, known him for years now), has recently started a Friday night gig.

That leaves Saturday and Sunday. the VFW does Saturday karaoke about once a month, but I'd have to a) wait for it to come around and b) wrangle another invitation (shouldn't be too hard. I know more people there than I'd have guessed.)

A little research has revealed that Nancy, a lady we followed around Dayton for a year...

Go to bed, Cinn...

Bottle of wine and internet crushes notwithstanding, you still need sleep.

Ah, sleep. Seems like I used to get a lot more of it.

By the way, he still hasn't called. I have two canvas bags of his stuff sitting by my door, just waiting. I know he's off having his fun with pretty girls, and that's fine. I'd just like my Buffy/Angel dvds and my sleeping bag back, please.

Do people still read?

Posted 05-31-2009 at 11:10 PM by CinnamonGirl (Story of a Girl)

I've noticed lately, in the majority of my friends' apartments, that no one has any bookshelves. No one has books.

I have a bookshelf... I also have five milk crates that I use as bookshelves. All are crammed to capacity, and the overspill is on the top two shelves of my closet.

I've read books my entire life. Maybe I'm just a huge nerd...actually, I KNOW I'm a huge nerd, but the lack of books in everyday life is a little disturbing to me.

One of my fantasies, when it comes to future housing, is having a room with wall-to-wall bookshelves on every wall (minus the space it takes for a big picture window.) My own library, sort of, with a nice comfy overstuffed couch and maybe a fireplace....

I was supposed to go dancing tonight with some work friends.

Posted 05-31-2009 at 12:54 AM by CinnamonGirl (Story of a Girl)

...said work friends all bailed on me, though. I, however, was not to be deterred, and went out to a Dayton club by myself.

I had an absolutely awesome time. Danced for nearly two hours straight, with only a couple of breaks.

Only bad part was a particular guy who kept hitting on me and wanting to dance. It was cool, until I called him on it; then he denied everything and acted as if he wasn't interested at all. *shrug* Whatever, dude.

It was all retro music (lots of 80s, a few 70s and early 90s songs), which is my preferred music for dancing. I think I've found a new Saturday night hangout.

Two very interesting people that I met:

1) Older man, in a cowboy getup (complete with hat.) He's a widow, and misses his wife very much...but still wants to get out and have some fun. We talked music, muscle cars, and relationships. Good conversation, and we danced twice. I don't usually dance with a partner when I...
