those were the first words...actually there were the first words after i hit the ground and split my chin open, sprained an ankle, hurt my jaw and jarred my neck.

ive been training seriously over the last few weeks on getting some mileage under my belt in order to get ready for the dubai marathon in january. ive worked myself up to 26km last friday during my 'long run' and was planning on hitting 30km in another weeks time after i conquered 'The Stairway to Heaven'. right now even a step is an obstacle course, so i'm saddened but forced to tell my fellow trekkers to go without me.

my ankle is the size of a tennis ball. Grade 2 sprain. it happened while i went for a 6am run this morning with a training partner, misjudged the corner of the kerb between the pavement and the road, went over on my ankle, ruptured a few ligaments, fell down in slow motion, one hand on the road, the other arm pinned underneath my body - yup, chin straight...

i'm 10 minutes from leaving my apartment to go to the airport on my way to Yemen when i recieved a call from Home in Sydney. it was she-lish. i don't know how to take it.

i've mixed emotions and totally confused. it was so considerable that i had to note it here.

i'll be on my way now...ill be back in a week

its raining tonight.

i havent seen the rain in about 10 months.

ive only ever seen it rain here 4 times in just under 2 years now. i really do miss a lot of things being here. i miss having lazy saturday sleep-in when its freezing cold and raining outside.

its coming into winter now..its hovering around 30 degrees celcius (about 90F).

i may go down to the jacuzzi and soak up the rain tonight. id never have done this in sydney, but once you are deprived of something you appreciate it even more.

in sydney, if it rained you headed indoors. in dubai, when it rains people head outdoors

so i broke the bed last night. i dont really need to explain it any further.

needless to say that i will be fixing it myself and not getting a handyman from work to have a look at it.

cuddles are nice but they dont fix pulled muscles. ice and as grumpy said..anti inflammatories!

this morning i woke up and it feel much better than last night. i can walk, albeit with an obvious limp. didnt have a great night sleep, which is essential for the recovery process, but then again, i rarely get a good night sleep anyways.

ive resigned myself to taking it easy over the next 2 days. i feel like if i take 2 or 3 days off im 'going backwards' and its definately NOT the way i want to go. i have a date with destiny and i plan to make it. if anything i want to prove it to myself, if for no other reason.

i still havent been to the physio yet. not sure if i will go now. RICE ( Rest Ice Compression Elevation) is the order of the day along with massage once any inflammation goes away.

looking forward to more icepacks tonight. anyone know how i can ice my thigh at work while im wearing business pants?
