I find it hilarious that someone called me a bot today for sending them a birthday message. Granted, it was fairly generic since I didn't know the guy. It was an old-time member that never really posted much when he was around, so it's difficult to look back and learn about him enough to relate to him. Apparently he left the board during a time when politics was mainly expressing conservative opinions. Oh how the pendulum has swung.
So my question, for any of you who care to take the time to think with me...
What can I do to personalize the birthday messages I send a bit more?
Should I say "Dear username" as I begin? When I see an older member that hasn't posted for a while should I say something along the lines of "I haven't seen you around for a while, I hope you have a great birthday." Still, someone could call that a bot. I'm not sure how to avoid being called a bot unless I reference something specific from their...
