I was just pm'ing with my oldest daughter (an artist) who happens to work in the deli of a popular grocery store back in Orlando. She has been drawing, steadily, for about 15 years now. She carries a sketch book everywhere and draws just about every time she is sitting for more than 5-10 minutes. Actually she draws when she is standing, too, lol. The drew the whole time we were standing in line for the Barack Obama rally, I remember.

But anyway, she just told me that the asst. manager in the deli she works in told her that 'she should be as passionate about the deli as she is about her drawing.'

I got a big laugh out of that. It's right out of Office Space. Classic.

She sent me some pictures this morning...these she does on her Wacom tablet:

I am both horrified and fascinated by these images - they are from a dog grooming competition.

Someone posted them on another forum I frequent at times...thought they would translate well here.

Sometimes people frighten me...no doubt we frighten the dogs, too. Do you suppose these dogs succumb to post-traumatic stress disorder whenever they hear the 'click...whrrrr' of the grooming clippers being turned on? (heh.)

So I went to the Naples public library this weekend (which I was very delighted with, great selection of photography and art books) and I brought home this book called The Waking Dream: Photography's First Century. It is chock full of beautiful images - beautifully printed on high quality paper.

I have found many new (to me) photographers, but the work of Heinrich Kuhn appeals to me especially.

Here is a little about him:
Quote:
Kühn, Heinrich (1866-1944), German photographer and scientist, born in Dresden. He studied science and medicine in Leipzig and Freiburg, and mastered microphotography in Berlin. After settling in Innsbruck in 1888 he did cell and tissue research and interested himself in applied photo-chemistry and-physics. From 1891 he worked intensively on optics. In 1896 he joined the Vienna Camera Club and with Hugo Henneberg and Hans Watzek (1848-1903) formed the so-called ‘Vienna Trifolium’. The three of them travelled to Italy, Germany, and

Today, I was hankering to kill.
Instead, I made a peach cobbler.
Can someone, anyone, explain to me the workings of 'the community college?'
Seems, that even though I provide and follow-up, provide and follow-up, I can't get no satisfaction.
Perhaps if I was less efficient?
Am I being too enthusiastic about my education?
