A while back, I set up a Myspace page, which I immediately abandoned, and never added any friends to, etc etc.

So today I get a message saying "Justine has sent you a message".

I open the message, and it reads:

"hello. I was wondering if you are (my full name). Son of (my mother's name) and (my father's name). I am asking because I believe I am a relative of yours and have been looking fo you. Please respond. This is not a joke."

I got one of these "are you(my name)" before, but it was from someone that I recognised that I went to high school with (and has no intention of "re-connecting" with)

This one, however, is different.

If she is related to me, I would have to guess it is via my father, who divorced my mom when I was like 2, and high tailed it to deadbeat dadtown.

I surfed her myspace page and it looks fairly legit as a personal page with pix of her family and lots of her kid, and no indication of "let me show you how to build personal wealth" kind of scammage.

So, on the one hand, I am mildly intrigued, but on the other hand if it turns out to be true, I don't really know what there would be to talk about concerning a father I know nothing about except he bailed on me for my whole life. For instance if she was to tell me he was dead or dying, I would be like "so?".

Sitting here writing this I'm getting kind of pissed at this stranger for making me think about it.

Freakin' internet.

We were the only ones in the joint for most of our meal. Granted it was in between meal times (3pm ish), but it got me wondering if Mexican restaurants in general are taking a hit due to the swine flu. You know, people staying away because they might be afraid that the workers might have visited relatives in the infected areas. I know it sounds silly, but if I thought about it, chances are other people have too.

There he was, sprawled on my neighbor's lawn, staring up at the stars. He seemed to be oblivious to the fact that it was 40 degrees outside and he was half naked.

There were people standing around him, but they were lit as well. They were all smiling and looked to be egging him on to make a spectacle out of himself.

All I know is whatever was warming their innards was definitely not the power of God, and someone was paying a pretty penny for it.

I just looked out the window, and he's still out there, blazing away. I bet he'll still be there in the morning, but he'll be completely out and covered in leaves and bird poop.

I was asked to explain my avatar, so here goes:

There are actually a couple of different things going on with it. Because my handle is mrklixx (which is another dumb story), I think of the gears going click,click.click. Also since it is basically "gears behind klixx", I think of it as the gears in my head clunking around. :)

Concerning avatars, I am of the opinion (obviously not a popular one, surprise surprise) that one should not change their avatar often, if ever. Because, to me, it is basically your "face" on a board. When people change up their avatars often, it can be a bit disconcerting.

I have, however, wished for a long time that we were allowed to have small pix in our signatures. Because that is something that I would be apt to change to fit the mood.

I'm a 38 year old married guy.

While that may not seem like much info to you, it's actually pretty huge, because I've never posted my age and marital status to an internet forum before.

While my body certainly feels like it's going on 40, my mind is split on the issue. I like all kinds of stuff that I did when I was a kid (video games, comics, cartoons, sci-fi, toys, etc), but I don't like kids (get off my lawn!).
