Every childhood has it, and we all spread the word with our own code of privacy. I don't think my parents ever knew that we knew about the shooter who was firing randomly in the air and ended up killing a girl a mile away.

It was quite the case. His life was ruined by stupid actions and questionable parenting. The recent threads about parenting reminded me of that. By the time I reached 6th grade, we had moved to a suburb of Charlotte. There was a mix of old and new south. There was incest, yes. We knew about it. Funny, the girl involved was a pretty happy go lucky girl. Kind of retarded, but happy.

That whole neighborhood is now an office complex about 13 stories tall. All the stories underneath are the interesting ones.

I am extremely upset today. Not at any one thing, it just seems the world is made up of assholes today. Me included.

I am consoling myself with Nerds. See, already I started two sentences in a row with I. That shows I am self involved, according to my high school engrish teechurs.

But today I was very involved in myself, and I liked it like Kate Perry likes kissing girls. But with less beat.

Today, I wanted to gather up all my frustrations into a single being. It would be a large being. I would call it Dagfor. I had several thoughts on the broadcasting industry. I had several thoughts on how people drive in DC, jackoffs with zip cars, retail, fuckoffs, me, you, everybody in between (except for TFPers, they're greeeeeaaat!), and Tony the Tiger - a fucking orange bastard designed to hook kids (me) on sugar way back in 1912.

So I started to imagine...

I've been looking at a job possibility. It's at a place I used to work and really enjoyed. They have since moved into a brand new state of the art facility.

And my closest co-worker would be my favorite person who works there. In fact, the job I took after that, my boss went to a convention and met her. Apparently she talked quite a bit about me. He came back and said, "you two could get into trouble." This was after she married.

Don't start thinking sex things. She now has two kids. I have one, and really in both cases, she and D could do much better than me. She graduated from a very prestigious school (in fact the job is at said school) while I graduated from a, uh, school. So maybe she's a genius and knows how to play jedi mind tricks and does it just for fun.

At any rate, I also know...

Nothing new. I'm used to it.

A friend of mine received some really shitty news. She lost her contracting job with the IRS (just after she had to go on bedrest to deliver a baby). She has been denied unemployment because her contractor is based in California and she lives in Virginia. So the state of Virginia denied her, and CA denied her. And she and her husband live a pretty extravagant lifestyle.

Which was fine. They were combining for close to $200k a year.

But they were also living like it. AND they never bothered to buy a house, even though they moved to NoVA before the bubble.

So they have a house they're renting for $2500, a basement full of expensive guitars, he has child support.

It might still behoove them to buy. We're closing on a house soon that appraised for $25k more than we paid. A couple of years ago, it was...
