Stolen Moments.... Particularly Those Upon My Bicycle pt 2 - Another Uglified Ride

For those of you who aren't hip to the new trend of bicycle decorating in urban areas, it is called uglification. You make your otherwise decent bicycle look extremely ugly so it will not get stolen at a mass transit stop. One of my bikes was stolen piece by piece from a DC metro stop, which led me to discover this new, uglyfying trend.

The best place to lock up your bike is directly in front of the station manager's booth. I found just such a spot this past Friday, sharing it with this bike:

Mine is the yellow horse on the other side. The one without the long strands hanging from the handlebars. I half expected this bike to have hydraulics.

Oh wait, it does:

I especially like the multiple colors...

Wow, Has It Really Been Over A Week?

Posted 11-10-2009 at 08:36 AM by Dano069 (My Life As A Manic-Depressive Attention Whore/Drama Queen)

Since I posted here? DAAAAAMN!

Guess I've been busy lately. Took our daughter for a college visit last weekend. The place was nice but she's still set on her first choice. She's already been accepted so I'm not sure why we went. Anyway, it was a nice drive.

So, how was everyone's Halloween? We had over 100 kids trick or treat at our house. I think there was one large group of 9 high school freshmen (maybe), otherwise it was all small kids. No hot moms though, sigh.

I've been down lately but not due to depression. I've been really tired lately. I don't know if I'm fighting off a cold or what. TW is sick. She has a nagging, hacking, dry cough. She's absolutely miserable. No flu though, just that damned cough.

Other than that, it's been work, work, work. I'm grateful to still have a job. They really like me here and the feeling is mutual. Now, if I could just do something about the commute.

I Was Rusty Randle

Chums (if any),

I got terrible grades back in school. I was truly awful, academically speaking. When I was getting bad grades back in the 2nd and 3rd grades, my mother thought that I wasn’t really applying myself to studying for exams. I guess she thought that when I was sitting there looking at my textbook, my mind was somewhere else. A few years later she abandoned that notion and hatched the theory that I wasn’t studying in a manner that suited my type of intellect. In the end, nothing worked. Just before graduating from high school, there at the end of my scholastic career, everyone in my senior class was given a little slip of paper with their name and a number on it. The number indicated where we graduated in the senior class. I never knew exactly how many students where in my senior class, but it isn’t impossible that I graduated last in the class.

Back in high school I had two cronies named Dave White and Pete Smith. Dave ended up being on the Honor...

Minor annoyance

Posted 11-09-2009 at 11:12 AM by CinnamonGirl (Story of a Girl)

On the way to work yesterday, my phone rang. I didn't recognize the number, so I let it ring. A few minutes later, the same number called again. I was puzzled, but again, didn't answer. Almost immediately, I got a text that said "Cinn?"

Hmmm, I thought. Someone from work, maybe? I called back, and...it was my ex. Apparently, he'd been "moving things around" and came across my Wedding Singer soundtrack, and the dvd insert from one of my Angel seasons. "I would just throw them away," he said, "but they're yours, and I thought you might want them."

I considered telling him to mail them to me, but that's a little silly, seeing as how he lives just down the road. So, he's supposed to drop them off today.

Of course, if this goes the same way as when we first broke up, I won't hear from him again for another month or so. It's okay, though... much as I love the soundtrack, I can just buy another one. And I can...
