August 22nd (for real this time)
I just got back from work, i'm really exhausted. I've been doing odd jobs around the farm of a client of my mothers' stables. Her husband became sick with cancer and passed away about 8 months ago and I guess things have been piling up. I guess she's felt really overwhelmed about the whole thing. But i've been doing work there for two days now and i've made a lot of progress fixing the place up. Some things i've done:
- Cemented in the mailbox on the drive
- Cut down 7 dead trees and then chopped em up into firewood
- Cut down bushes and grass around then Painted a Barn (it was a small barn)
- Landscaped a few flower beds around the house, edging, rotor tilling, prepping, laying fabric down, mulch etc etc
- Fixed the fax machine
- Cleaned her truck
- Washed the windows around the house
I feel like andy rooney. There were a half dozen other things but they were small or else i'd probably remember them now.
And with the HTC Diamond, i'm having a few issues. Most of it is great, as a music player it sounds like any mp3 player, it hold pictures and I can set em up as my background (in theory, i have yet to figure that out)
But there are a few problems. The main one being that it's unable to send or recieve picture messages. It's totally ridiculous, why would a camera phone be unable to send images except by email? And when I recieve pictures they go through this telusmobility/snap page which is completely broken and compresses the photos recieved into these tiny sub 100x100 pixel images that you can barely see. It's really annoying, especially considering the excellent screen on the phone combined with it's 3.2 megapixel camera.
Another smaller issue is that the email sync is fairly hostile to gmail. When I synced it up, it downloaded every single message I had recieved or sent and marked em new + unread. Considering gmail doesn't delete messages I ended up with a hell of a backlog that took forever to delete. I think it's downloaded them all now so whatever comes in the future will sync normally. (and of course hotmail and outlook emails sync quite well to the windows mobile system
)
Anyway getting past that I got some cash and that i'm flush with it with some to spare I picked up some scotch. I decided to pick up a bowmore, on a recommendation from a friend. I picked the 15 year to taste but i've found it is MUCH too smokey for my tastes. It feels like i've inhaled a campfire with every sip. Next time around i'll go back to a glenmorangie or glenfiddich, or a nice scotch-whiskey blend.
oh and here's the photo i was going to upload when I restarted my computer but fell asleep instead.

edit- image was huge, resizing.

I wonder how huge... 3.2 megapixels is equivalent to 3200 pixels, or am I wrong there?
Nevertheless, good work in helping the widow pick up the pieces in the aftermath of her tragedy, if only doing so sans an obligatory-consolation.
Perhaps the intracacies of your new smart-phone take time and some fiddling to acquire a mastery over, but a quick perusal of the manual helps, too.
Keep us updated on the coming weeks; I'm rightly intrigued at what you could seek to find at your upcoming convention roadtrip.Posted 08-22-2008 at 11:19 PM by Jetée
