Woke up this morning and found the cruise ships have returned. I found this to be the view out my bedroom window-

Myself I could live here the rest of my life, never see another cruise ship or tourist and be completely content. However the town has been being bleed dry due to lack of income. So this is a bitter sweet day for me. I am glad that so many will be so much better off with the income the tourist bring.

Many in Progreso are happy today. For that I'm glad.

It seems that the downside to living in paradise is dealing with all the interlopers.

I'd still like to be one of them, myself. I can't imagine living in a place that hot, but visiting is on my list of things to do.

I'm finding "paradise" is an unobtainable thing found only in one's mind. Getting "paradise" into your head, being happy in life, is far more important then any physical location.

Even so. I imagine myself sitting on that white sandy beach and strumming my six string. And I can't imagine much to top it.

Paradise being unattainable is simply a result of the human condition, as the kids are calling it these days.

Sure, paradise is a state of mind - but I'm sure the tropical weather and white sand can't hurt.

Hopefully those cruise ships aren't too loud at night.

I hate the tourists too, especially being one. My remedy? make friends with people who live in the places I want to experience and live life their way when I'm there.
