The challenge is to be the first to submit the locations of 10 moored, 8-foot, red, weather balloons at 10 fixed locations in the continental United States. The balloons will be in readily accessible locations and visible from nearby roads.

DARPA Network Challenge

Here's the plan.

Hal registers by Dec 1.

On December 5th, if you see an 8 foot red weather balloon tethered to the ground, pm Hal.

Be the first network to find all 10...win $40k for TFP!

So my girlfriend is really shy, and as such isn't too great at "dirty talk" in the bedroom. She likes to dress up in costumes (schoolgirl, cheerleader, halloween costumes, etc) while we do our thing and pretend she's whatever she's dressed as, but as for conveying that with words and generally just acting/talking "naughty" for lack of a better term, she's admittedly not very good at it. I've tried to give her some tips, but they just haven't really sunk in, and she responds really well to reading articles about these types of things.

So I was wondering if anyone had any ebooks/blogs/articles on bedroom roleplaying and talking dirty, specifically geared towards the ladies. Thanks in advance!

9/11 was an act of war, why are we allowing our president to let Khalid Sheikh Mohammed have a criminal trial? We do this but kill our own citizens at Ruby Ridge, Waco and elsewhere without their day in court?..... Why do people not stand up and say enough and hold our leaders responsible? Why are we allowing this? Something is wrong when we try those in criminal court not military courts who plotted to kill thousands and want to destroy us, by acts of war and we kill our own without giving them those same trials.

Double digit unemployment, homelessness at an all time high, companies able to fire people with no reason except their bottom line and to make those rich richer, companies closing plants and moving overseas, sending jobs overseas, while people lose their homes, our great cities and states bankrupt, our people divided and just trying to make it to ... Read Morethe next day.... and where's our leadership? Where are the people standing up saying enough? Where is the press that is supposed to be the 4th estate and true protectors of freedom? They worry about passing health care bills that if you don't buy into you'll be thrown into jail and fined. They worry about getting the Olympics in Chicago. Our leaders no longer care about the country or the people's freedoms they are put into office to protect.

We are the United States of America, the greatest country ever seen on this planet because of the freedoms, the wealth and the opportunities and we are allowing our very leaders who are supposed to protect this country for future generations to drop us to our knees.... and they laugh at us, they tell us it is our fault, they give rights that our own citizens no longer enjoy to foreign terrorists that want us destroyed. They refuse to help our troops fighting overseas, the President is more worried about giving "Shout outs" then the man and women in our armed services shot wounded or killed on a base in our own country.

When does it stop? When do people see that this is not radical, conspiratorial talk but reality. Those put into office to protect us are the ones destroying us and it starts with our own president.

John Lennon stated, "Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we're being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I'm liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That's what's insane about it." ... Read More

And it has never been more true. Those of us who speak out because we love our country and choose to do so because of that love are talked about as zealots, conspiracy nuts and we have no idea the truth. I would argue the opposite, those who do not speak out, are either scared of what will happen to them, what label they may receive, what others may think of them, losing what little they have or what the government may do.

Why are we scared of the government in this country???? Why are we scared to exercise our freedoms?

This is what I wore a uniform to protect, these freedoms, these words, this government set forth by our forefathers who sacrificed all they knew to make a better country for their children and grandchildren.... and we are now allowing our own leaders to put their agendas ahead of these words.. they would rather us be on our knees begging than protect and defend this document.

It's not about parties it's all about keeping this country great and making it a better place for the future. 9/11 woke me up and I have slowly watched this great country be destroyed from within. What is going on now is a conglomeration of many wrongs and instead of trying to make things right they continue to go down the wrong road.... and do so happily knowing that it is in fact destructive to this nation.

For all of you who have helped me in giving advice the last couple posts regarding my relationship problems, I thank you. There's a lot of reasons why it's not going to work out between us. Not sure where to begin...I didn't mention the fact that there was hardly any room between my last relationship and this one. And the baggage was carried over. And it was too soon to have a relationship again. I feel horrible for what I have put him through, the jealousy especially, it got so bad that he has needed space all this week from me.

The only thing now that I want to concentrate on is me, me, me. As my friends have been giving me advice as well, they say the same thing...I need to find myself, and then I can find someone to share myself with. But until I am complete, there's no way of being able to share myself with someone else if I don't know myself. The narcissistic behavoir has got to end. It's too much, even for me. I wouldn't want to date me right now.

So anyways, I am glad to have found this online community, I'm very thankful for all of you and your advice. Oh, and I plan on going to therapy, I think it would help greatly. Thanks to all again!

It's obvious that movies have trends. Lately, it's been zombies and vampires, with a few werewolves tossed in. Frankly, it's all good. But is it overdone? Are we headed for tilt? Maybe, maybe not.

The same thing happened in the '80s with movies about ninjas. They were awesome, no matter how cheesy they were. As a kid I loved the concept of ninjas: deadly martial artists who could appear and disappear, leaving corpses and the occasional shuriken as the only evidence that they were ever there.

I've been hiding it well enough here on TFP, but I'm into ninjas just about as much as Crompsie....er..Plan9...is into his monstrous triad.

Coming out of the '80s and into the '90s to today, the idea of ninjas in movies were mainly for comedic effect. Maybe it was warranted during our hangover from those movies. But are we over it?

I am.

Enter Ninja Assassin! It's funny, just a few months ago, I was lamenting the lack of big-budget ninja action. The martial art of choice in film these days has been kung-fu. And here seemingly out of nowhere---like the ninja---my despair gets assassinated by this Joel Silver/Wachowski-brother joint.

I don't care if it sucks and gets panned by the critics. I'm totally hitting this on the big screen.

Feast your eyes, ninja fans!
law.com Law Dictionary
1) n. from the Latin fiducia, meaning "trust," a person (or a business like a bank or stock brokerage) who has the power and obligation to act for another (often called the beneficiary) under circumstances which require total trust, good faith and honesty. The most common is a trustee of a trust, but fiduciaries can include business advisers, attorneys, guardians, administrators of estates, real estate agents, bankers, stockbrokers, title companies or anyone who undertakes to assist someone who places complete confidence and trust in that person or company. Characteristically, the fiduciary has greater knowledge and expertise about the matters being handled. A fiduciary is held to a standard of conduct and trust above that of a stranger or of a casual business person. He/she/it must avoid "self-dealing" or "conflicts of interests" in which the potential benefit to the fiduciary is in conflict with what is best for the person who trusts him/her/it. For example, a stockbroker must consider the best investment for the client and not buy or sell on the basis of what brings him/her the highest commission. While a fiduciary and the beneficiary may join together in a business venture or a purchase of property, the best interest of the beneficiary must be primary, and absolute candor is required of the fiduciary. 2) adj. defining a situation or relationship in which a person is acting as a fiduciary for another.

MILFORD -- A video of the June 13 crash that killed two Orange teens shows a Milford police cruiser traveling at a high rate of speed as it struck the young couple's car under a flashing traffic signal.

The video released Tuesday is from the dashboard camera of another Milford cruiser and shows Officer Jason Anderson's car pass on the right and plow into a 2008 Mazda carrying Ashlie Krakowski and David Servin. The Mazda was struck as it made a left turn from the Boston Post Road onto Dogwood Road at 2:13 a.m., sparks and small flames shooting from underneath the vehicle.

Officer Rick Pisani at one point was traveling at more than 70 mph, according to the dashboard camera, as he and Anderson returned to Milford after a mutual aid call in West Haven. Pisani was going about 65 mph when Anderson shot past him on the right; the speed limit on that stretch of the Boston Post Road is 40 mph.

The two-minute video segment was released in response to a state Freedom of Information request by the Connecticut Post. It covers the nearly half-mile stretch between the Utopia 77 Lounge in West Haven, from where the officers left, and the crash site. An earlier video segment, also screened Tuesday by Chief Keith Mello, shows Pisani leaving the scene of the West Haven mutual aid call while Anderson's cruiser is still there.

Anderson has been charged by State Police with two counts of second-degree manslaughter in the teens' deaths. He will be arraigned Nov. 24 in
Advertisement
Derby Superior Court and has been suspended with pay.

Pisani is now the subject of an internal investigation into his speed that morning, Mello said. The 39-year-old probationary officer remains on duty, working the night shift.

Servin's mother, Susan, watched the video Tuesday morning in the victim advocate's office at Milford Superior Court, accompanied by her attorney, Bart Halloran.

Attorney John Wynne viewed the video at the same time, at the request of Ken Krakowski, Ashlie's father.

"It was horrific, frankly," Halloran said. "It was shocking to see that type of behavior. The cruiser taking the video is going 66 to 72 mph with no explicable reason.

"We'd have concerns about him driving a car," the Servins' attorney said of Pisani. Both officers were "playing fast and loose with people's lives, to do that kind of speed at any time of day.''

Mello confirmed that neither Milford cruiser had its light bar or siren on, and that neither officer was being dispatched to another call at the time of the crash.

State law requires police officers traveling without lights and sirens, and not dispatched on a call, to obey prevailing speed limits, the chief said.

Wynne said that he was told by state police that Anderson was traveling at 94 mph just before the impact. "That is 138 feet per second, which doesn't leave much reaction time for another driver,'' he said.

The video does not give a true impression of Anderson's speed because it is being taken from a vehicle that is also traveling very fast, Krakowski's lawyer said.

The lawyers said in separate interviews that they have not had access to the vehicles involved and still do not know which of the two teens were driving at the time of the crash.

"Even if my client was the passenger, we don't intend to file suit against the driver," Halloran said. "We will be going after the party who is responsible for the collision.''

Although police found a small amount of marijuana in the couple's car, a toxicology report found no traces of the drug in their blood, Halloran said.

Wynne said that he has not been provided a copy of the arrest warrant affidavit for Jaycen Munro, a Milford resident state police have charged with serving alcohol to minors on the night of the crash.

Krakowski's lawyer said he doesn't know if the crash victims attended the party Munro gave, or whether either of them consumed any alcohol.

The affidavit was not available late Tuesday afternoon from Milford Superior Court, where Munro is to be arraigned on Nov. 25.

The cruiser that Pisani was driving on June 13 is one of only two in the Milford department's 25-car patrol fleet equipped with a dashboard camera, Mello said. The department plans to use a $79,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to equip seven more patrol cars with cameras, he said.

The camera, manufactured by I-COP, constantly captures data, Capt. Tracy Mooney said, but only records it when a cruiser's lights and siren are activated.

Mello said that the camera has the ability to go back 60 seconds from the moment the lights and siren are switched on and store video from that point.

Pisani switched on his vehicle's emergency devices when he saw the crash happen in front of him, which preserved the moment of impact on video.

Video is in the link.

Ok so here's some key points from the article:

Mello confirmed that neither Milford cruiser had its light bar or siren on, and that neither officer was being dispatched to another call at the time of the crash.

State law requires police officers traveling without lights and sirens, and not dispatched on a call, to obey prevailing speed limits, the chief said.

So, they weren't responding to a call.. but they decided it would be fun to race or whatever they were doing..

...has been suspended with pay.

so.. he's suspended but he's still cashing that paycheck. NICE.

So I wonder, what are the defenders of the boys in blue going to say about this one?? It never fails that when SOME cops are shown to be doing the wrong thing, someone always stands up for them saying it's part of their job or whatever. Clearly, this wasn't part of their job as they weren't even responding to a call.

I cannot fathom why he's still cashing a check when he clearly wasn't following procedure and ended up killing 2 people because of his actions.
