There are a few threads, however, that contain a lot of image/video content that take a long time to load and eat up too many resources because of the high number of posts.

Is there a way to change the number on a specific thread, without having to change it globally in one's UserCP? Even if there isn't a setting or feature, maybe there's a bit of code that could be added to the URL (&showposts=25 ??) that would do the trick.

Not a train smash if there aint, just thought I'd put my hand up.

That's reasonable. What about other posts that come after the OP? It's not like people would be completely deleting traces of "wrongdoing" or what have you. Mods and admins can still view deleted content.
