Okay, I'm not the most fashionable girl on the planet. That doesn't mean I don't like fashion and to know what's in fashion. I love looking at magazines to see what the latest trends are, when I'm just relaxing. Just because I'm curious. Occasionally I will pick something up that is trendy.

This thread is for us to share our favourite fashion accessories, images we've seen in fashion magazines of clothes etc. we like, some cool new garment or pair of shoes we just bought. What you post doesn't have to necessarily be about something fashionable, it could just be showing us what you like. We can also discuss silly trends that are out there that we dislike. Feel free to post anything fashion related in here.

I would like to start with my favourite accessory, when I want to feel like a rock chick:

Anyone watch over Fashion Weeks? Any favorite S/S 09 collections?

Some of my favorites were Christian Lacroix, Antonio Berardi, MaxAzria, Blumarine, Giorgio Armani, Gianfranco Ferre, Nathan Jenden, Marchesca, Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs

As for myself, I tend not to rely heavily on trends to dictate my style. I try to flatter my figure the best I can. I love black, basic pants and layers. I also LOVE the high waisted pant. I'm glad skinny jeans are fading. And I can't even believe Lindsay Lohan started a legging brand. Needless to say I hate leggings.

Three things I can't stand seeing and wish they were banned:
Shorty tank tops-these things should come with a warning label: Muffin tops prohibited.
Gelled hair with curly strands-this "style" is mainly seen on young Hispanic girls; they plaster back their long hair, mousse the waves so they hang in strands and leave a few curls around their face. It's a really dumb look, not flattering to anyone.
Spike heels: Watch any woman walk in these. No one can, even if you think you're the exception. From the back, you will be seen as wobbling. By the time you're 40, your feet will look like shit, toes bent unnaturally...but hey, your calves look great.

On a day to day basis, I am not fashionable. Plain slacks or jeans, decent albeit cheap top, lace up ankle boots most times. I have enough t-shirts to clothe a small nation and own only one dress.
My best fashion "accessory"-my VS bras and not because they're lacy(yuck!) but because they hold the ladies where they should be.

That's pretty much me, too, right down to the VS bra that I own (just one), though my boots come up to my knees. I basically wear one pair of jeans every day until they wear out, with a couple of pairs of other pants to wear on laundry days.

My one big "fashion" investment recently was a pair of low-heeled Camper shoes (Mary Janes) in Barcelona, and that was mostly because ktsp said they looked more "feminine," and I decided to take a chance. I guess one item that helps dress up almost any outfit is a long black wool coat, which is a staple of my cool-weather wardrobe... but those never go out of style, which is why I like them.

I just don't really pay much attention to trends/fashion, dunno if that's a good or bad thing, just the way I've always been. I will say that my biggest clothing investments are in outdoors/hiking clothes, which is mostly a practical thing... but I suppose there is some "fashion" in outdoors clothing, just not based on aesthetics, more on functionality. I will heartily splurge out on hiking boots, rock climbing gear, fleece jackets, waterproof jacket and pants, hiking poles, merino wool socks, etc... because they are the best quality.

I don't care about being fashionable and/or trendy. However, I do like to look classic and a bit studious. My go-to "look neat and tidy" outfit is gray bootcut cords and a ribbed tank top (various colors) with a cardigan over it (with 3/4 sleeves). I may change this up with a ribbed tank under a black v-neck sweater. This goes with either my black patent leather ballet flats or a pair of black leather boots I've owned for about 7 years now. I do most of my shopping at Costco.

No wonder I've hardly bought any new clothing in the last 18 months... there's no Costco in Iceland (and I just cannot pay more than $50 for any article of clothing, unless it's outdoors gear!!).

Lacy VS bras? Hmmm, not mine. Well maybe one.

Everyday is classic, slightly preppy with the occasional trendy twist, if and when it works. At my age, overdoing the trends simply does not work. Besides, I'm now wise enough and not ashamed to admit that comfort is everything.

No, I don't think she meant lacy, just that it support her breasts better than others... anyway, mine isn't lacy at all, but it's the only bra I found that fits after I finally got measured. It's extremely basic and practical... mine is the "nude" color version of this bra, the full-coverage Body bra, I think:

That looks like a nice, practical bra. I have a few of those. I have to say though I'm a sucker for pretty, lacy things. I feel rather hot in them. Something like this:



I don't usually follow fashion week Jenna, though I like fashion a lot. Maybe you could show us some specific pieces you liked?

I loathe leggings too...I can't believe there is a trend.

I'm not sure myself. They look clumpy. But I'm tempted just because they look...unique. These are by Louboutin.

I can't stand leggings. Seems like that is all anyone wears here in Iceland. I stick to my regular jeans and am just waiting to get back to the US and feel normal again, lol.

I'm a jeans-and-t-shirt kinda girl. I spent about 100 dollars on t-shirts at the beach this summer, because that's the only place I can find them where they're not the women's kinda t-shirts. I hate babydoll shirts, in other words. Up until I came to college I did all my back to school shopping in the men's department, except for the 1 pair of khakis I had to have for my uniform. I wear my shirts baggy and large. And if they happen to fit close..I usually wear my zip-up hoodie over it.

My bf hates it, lol. He says that since I'm a 36D I should dress accordingly. But I like my big t-shirts, they're comfy. If I do dress up, it's jeans and heels with a sweater over it.

Oh, and I completely agree with the VS bra. I have 3. =)

Can't see those pics, tippler. But I'd say the hat is AWESOME- i wouldn't look good in it, but it suits you well. The belt is great, too, but wearing a longer shirt would be best. It looks lonely and unattached just sitting on the hips.

I like fashion, but not like the whole trendy teenage fashion, runway fashion, or celeb fashion. It's more of the alternative/unique fashion. I'm part classy/part 'rockabilly'. My fave piece of attire (especially when I'm lazy or to keep my hair down) is my black paisley bandana. But I guess it's suitable for my look and I can wear it different ways. I also love my dark, dark blue jeans that have straight legs and I fold the bottoms up for a cuffed look. Oh and flat shoes- so comfy!

I've also come to the realization that I can't just settle for bras from Target anymore. And you shouldn't wear bras with an underwire. Don't go for fashion with bras, as having the right fit is most important. I've been wearing underwire bras for years but have developed lumps in my breasts' sides because of that. It's not major, but not good either. Spending money at Victoria's Secret or even Fredrick's of Hollywood to get the right kind of bra- without underwire- is worth the money. PS- the key to feeling sexy is a comfy, fitting bra, but more importantly- SEXY UNDIES!
And I am all about Ross and 2nd hand stores!

Well the clothes I'm wearing with the belt were just what I was wearing at the time, to show you the belt. It's not what I'd wear with it usually. But I don't like to see a belt over a shirt anyway, it bunches up and gives you a large middle.

It's never done me any harm to wear underwire and I think it gives my breasts extra support. I've never heard of getting lumps due to the underwire - chances are you may be wearing the wrong size bra, if it's digging into you like that.

I don't see how having the right fitting bra excludes having something that is pretty as well. Yes, you can have it all

The bra that onesnowyowl posted, is one that I swear by. But, if someone could suggest a sexier, yet still supportive and comfortable style, I'd appreciate the advice!

I like to dress nice, but when I'm going to be sitting in class all day I have no desire to wear anything but jeans and t-shirts. If I am dressing nice, I am usually wearing something from the Ann Taylor Loft, they have great clothes for petites.

I have to wear underwire bras or the backs would end up between my shoulder blades. Underwires keep the beauties from looking saggy, they support larger breasts and push up droopy ones. I've always hated them but that was because I wasn't getting the proper ones at the proper fit.
If you developed lumps, you were probably wearing bras that were too small and cutting into you. I developed some too without wearing underwires.
