Question Regarding Unemployment Insurance

I was laid off early this year, I signed up for unemployment insurance the very next day. I was drawing on $450/week out of the maximum amount (~12k) they said I could draw from. Right now I am back in school. My question is once I have finish withdrawing all the money from the first 26 weeks given, would I be eligible for a federal extension? Follow up question would be where the heck is all that money coming from?!

I'm not sure if you would be eligible or not, I've never used it, nor know anybody who has.

The money comes from everyone's employers paying into an 'public' unemployment insurance fund. It is assumed that there will be more people working than unemployed for any length of time.
