The Guild

The Guild

anyone ever catch this? i watched the first for episodes then forgot about it. I remembered it after watching Felicia Day in Dollhouse Epitaph One.

It's pretty interesting, short, lots of poking fun at MMORPG.

I have enjoyed both seasons. I really like Felicia Day (and the entire cast of The Guild). I even like the related internet show: Legend of Neil.

To say "The Guild" is huge amongst the WoW community would be the understatement of the year. It somehow does a brilliant job of spoofing everything about the human element of MMOs without ever really getting into the gameplay, which makes it all the better.

Watched the first two seasons. Looking forward very much to the third.

Also, Felicia Day is probably the most perfect possible geek chick. Rowr.

I haven't got around to watching all of the second season yet.

It's not as horrible as you'd think a show about the worst parts of MMO would be.

I can't believe how few tfp'erd knew about this show. Seems like the kind of thing the tfp community would be all over. I started watchng after I saw dr. Horrible and wanted to know what Felicia's other credits were all about. Also, uh, I play a lot of wow.

I hadn't posted it because I figured I was late to the game. I only found out about it after Felicia Day starred in Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog, and I wondered what else she had done. I love the show even though I have never played WoW or any similar game.

Anyone know when Season 3 will start?

It's on XBOX live. The 3rd season will be on there first before it hits the web. XBOX supported it entire second season. And it's totally free on XBOX live.

This is hilarious... plus it shows off Felicia Day in her priest costume. You know, if were just listening to the song and not really the lyrics... it sounds alot like the crap pop music on the radio. I think that's fucking awesome.

So, I just watched seasons 1 & 2 in one sitting. Awesome times ten.

Felicia Day is amazing. I've loved her since Buffy, and I didn't even like the Potentials. Also: video rocks, and I'm going to be going around with that stuck in my head for at least a week.

That is all I could think about the whole time I watched it.

I can't tell you how much I love seeing Felicia in that costume (and Tink too!), but I think autotune crap really sums it up. The sad thing is we know she CAN sing from Dr. Horrible's, but I guess they just felt compelled to turn it into pop junk with a machine. Le sigh.

Also, I even loving seeing the costume, I can't help but feel like they're pandering so obscenely to my demographic that it's almost inappropriate for me to enjoy. I don't think that's a normal feeling, but ok.

---------- Post added at 11:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:08 PM ----------

I feel like I should say that I really really love the show, this music video just seemed like they were trying to hard to make fanboys cream over Felicia and Co. in costume. One of the things that I like so much about The Guild as a show is the fact that it doesn't seem like they're trying. This kind of flies in the face of that charm.

Far be it for me to tell you not to enjoy it, I just didn't think it had the unpolished, effortless charm of the rest of The Guild.

I mean, obviously they're not taking it seriously, so from that perspective I guess you could say it's tongue in cheek, but something about the entire affair rubs me the wrong way. I'm titillated and weirded out at the same time.

I've been following the Guild since Dr. Horrible... it's fun. It's good to see something like this become popular. It suggests a new model for content delivery and production.

Like they are trying to be singers... or be taken seriously as singers.

Who cares if it's autotuned. Did you expect Beyonce?

Besides, it was just a thing they did to raise money to help pay the bills and line the pockets of those involved with filty luche. If you ask me, they should be paid. They do good work.

I was kind of hoping this season we'd graduate up from 5 minute episodes to something in the 10-15 minute range. Ah well. Maybe that's just a limitation of the medium or part of its charm?

You're right, CG, what a place to end it!

Also, i take back everything bad I said about Date My Avatar. Ok, I don't take back that I don't like autotune, but it's a catchy song, and I dig it. I can't help myself.

If you want to hear Felicia singing much better, and much *filthier*, check out The Legend of Neil Series II Episode 3. Holy crap.
