Kentucky Derby - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

Are any TFPers coming to the Kentucky Derby this week? Things are really ramping up with events and parties. It's a blast ... like a mini Mardi Gras!
We'll be at the track (Churchill Downs) for:

Thursday - the Crown Royal Festival in the Field (live bands, horse racing, giant local party). It's a day that many locals are attending to avoid the crowds on Oaks and Derby Days. It's a blast and has become our favorite.
Friday - The Kentucky Oaks - a full day at races. The featured race is fillies only. The Oaks used to be the local alternative to Derby crowds, but has gained national popularity and is now drawing very large crowds. It's like two full Derby Days!

Derby Day (Sat) we'll be at a local party ... but if you would like info about the KY Derby, just let me know.

It would be cool to meet up at the track. If interested, let's coordinate.

I'm in Louisville... and STAYING THE HELL AWAY!!! lol.

I was at Thunder over Louisville on the 12th, and yesterday went down to WaterFront Park to watch the Fest A Ville Run for the Roses. Kind of an anti climatic atmosphere... basically just a horse equivalent of a NACSCAR weekend, in my opinion.

Oaks was initially in the plans, but now for the popularity, I'm not sure. I work off of 4th St, so could technically walk down (about 20-30 min walk).

For actual Derby days, we've talked of going camping outside the Lexington/Louisville area to avoid the crush of visitors.

Weather should be beautiful though!
