Microwave Recipes

Do you have anything delicious that you love to make - with your microwave as your only heat source? PLEASE!!! Share your secrets with me! I used to hate the thought of using the microwave, everything always turns out rubbery or just odd. But last night changed my mind...

I didn't want to wait to heat up the oven, but I really wanted sugar cookies. Found this recipe at cooks dot com, decided to try. It turned out delicious! Cakey, fluffy not-too-sugary cookies.

Quote:
MICROWAVE SUGAR COOKIES

3/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
2 2/3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Soften butter (15 seconds in microwave). Cream butter; gradually add sugar. Cream until fluffy; beat in eggs and vanilla. Toss flour, baking powder, and salt to mix; add to creamed mixture and combine well.
( Optional - Chill dough 1 hour until firm. Roll out to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut in shapes.)
Arrange 8 cookies in a ring on waxed paper. Cook 2 minutes on HIGH. Yield 3-4 dozen.

This experience has opened my mind to the fact that yes, sometimes microwaves can help you make things that taste good.

This sounds interesting, I have a pudding recipe I could post...

But, is it just me or does that recipe say that you should chill the dough for 1 hour before cooking? Kind of defeats the not waiting for the oven to heat up thing...

Yummy idea, Noodle!

LT - oh! That's only if you want the cookies in shapes. I just made little flattened balls and it turned out great.

If anyone makes meatballs (approx 1 pound) and wants to rid excess water and grease but still have them flavorful and moist, put them in a microwave dish and give them shots of 2-3 minutes at a time at power level medium high(7/10), uncovered and turn gently. Takes about 7-9 minutes. Then add to whatever.

Frozen fish is excellent in the microwave. Put fish in dish, season and add finely cut sweet onion. Turn fish in juice every minute and half at power level medium high until flakey

Baked potatoes- poke holes, add a tablespoon water to dish, 2-3 minutes on high.Turn over, 2-3 more minutes

Boil water for 1 Pack of Ramen noodles, add noodles, cook for about 2/3 of the noodles-in-water time, then pour off 2/3 of the water, crack in an egg, mix it up, add the seasoning packet, and microwave for another minute. Egg noodles with no stove involved.
