Does anyone know how to recreate making Naan at home?

Here's something, but I haven't tried it:

Naan - Recipe for leavened Indian flatbread

You could probably substitute regular butter for the ghee.

Yep - I have a few easy steps to follow:
1. pick up phone
2. ring local indian place
3. order naan
4. walk and pick up tasty freshly made naan

seriously, I wonder how possible this would be to re-create without a tandoori oven, given naan are cooked 'stuck' on the inside of the oven.

It's just another type of flatbread. There a lots of things that 'require' special equipment but in almost all circumstances you can work around it.

Trader Joes does a passable job with their frozen kind. Buy some and spread some Butter on it, stick it in the toaster oven and then enjoy.

I know, this is not exactly what you had in mind, but it seems kind of difficult to make it to restaurant specs.
