Burnt out on gaming ...
I used to be such a huge gamer ever since I was a wee lad. The NES was my first console, and since then I've owned a Genesis, Sega CD, Sony Playstation, Sega Saturn, Sega Saturn (JP), Nintendo 64, Sony Playstation 2, Neo Geo, Dreamcast, Gamecube, Neo Geo CD and Xbox 360.
Well, I've sold everything other than a PS2 Slim and my three favorite games. And I rarely play those. Over the last year, I've just lost interest in gaming and don't even care what's coming out anymore. I used to be obsessive about it ... Anyone else gone through such a phase before? |

Ever since i started dating... I still go through phases where i play extensive amount of gaming but they are few and far between. The last games I've played through were The orange box for HL and portal, and Trackmania Nation Forever United or w/e. the free one.
I have about 5-6 games that I have never played more than 10min on my ps2. I should skip the computer/tv and just play those. oh well. there are more fun things to do i guess.

Yes, and it's hard to know whether it's permanent or just a phase. Some things I got bored with and came back to, others I never regained an interest in.

Been that way for over a year now... I think I got so sick of playing WoW that ever since, I haven't played anything else. I've got at least 5 recent games that I bought, installed, played for maybe 2-3 days, and then never touched. I'll let you know if I ever manage to get into computergames again. I sorta miss it, but don't at the same time :S

I go through this pretty often. Usually lasts around 6 months. Then I end up going back and playing all the games I missed. For me, it happens to do with what's going on in my personal life - busy at work and/or home, etc.

The only time I've ever been burned out on gaming was when I was playing WoW ironically. MMORPGs make you not want to play any other game because you feel like you should be playing the MMO instead. ![]() |

I burned out on gaming a while back...I just started thinking about the VAST ammount of time lost with nothing whatsoever to show for it and how much it cost me. and I don't even coincider myself a "gamer" really.
but now that I have a new PC I'll be installing a very short list of games on it. I really just want to see the art of the game. textures, models, maps and monsters.

I've never been completely burned out on gaming. I either get sick of playing console games and switch to the PC for long periods of time, or vice versa. My consoles usually collect dust in the summer because I feel too guilty about wasting the few nice months we have here in Michigan to sit around and play games, but I'll still hop on the PC at night for quick Battlefield 2 run or something.
The PC burnout phase doesn't last anywhere near as long as the console one does. There is too much out there on the comp not to find something interesting to do. |

I'm not burned out, but I hardly have time anymore. Working more overtime than ever, driving almost an hour too and from work everyday plus 2 kids... I kinda just phased it out... I use to play MMO's back when everquest was big but after the first kid I lost the time, Now i stick to games I can save and come back to on the comp. But even those I only get to maybe an hour or two a week...
and I play Lego Star Wars with my son on the PS2 thats about it. DB |

If you haven't yet played it, get yourself a used copy of Shadow of the Colossus. It's beautiful, and amazing.

I've had a bit of this lately. I've found I can't really get into MMOs anymore. I have found, however, that I now prefer console gaming to PC gaming... which is a major change. Also, I like unique feeling games. Civ: Rev for the 360 is Civilization, but with a good feel. Bad Company is a typical FPS, but with some nice newness to it. Portal fit the bill well also.

I flip back and forth, sort of in a downward phase right now, although I have been logging some time on Warhawk and Burnout Paradise.
I cannot get into Metal Gear Solid for whatever reason. When God of War 3 hits, I'll become glued to the recliner unless I am at work. Hopefully I will be working nights then so I can come home and spend a good 3-4 hours gaming before I go to bed each day.
