I'm waiting to see what stores in my area do a midnight release; last time I had to drive to the next town over to go to GameStop. One of our general merchandise/grocery stores has been getting into doing pre-orders and midnight releases since then, so I'm hoping they'll do it, because they're only a 1/2 mile away versus 10.

I'm glad this is a Thursday release instead of the Tuesday release BC was. I already have Friday as a company holiday (Veterians Day) so I can take Thursday as well and have a nice long weekend to enjoy it. My daughter wants to stay home from school on one of those days, I told her if I see all A's and she doesnt have any major tests or assignments due, we'll see what we can work out.
The last release the Gamestop near my house was packed, and was nice to see all ages of WoW players in my area, of course the odds on one of them being on the Icecrown Realm is like 1 in 200..but nice to see anyways.. |

nice... i'm going to have to let Skogafoss know that we're going to be booked for a spell.
I'm also going to have to restart playing around October so that I shed the rustiness of not playing for a year.

These things are very bad for my WoW sobriety.

It won't get pushed back. What people fail to realize is that Blizzard games take forever to release but they almost never get delayed. Once a release date is announced it's gonna launch that day.

Not to mention they have to send the final version to be duplicated and distributed, and the volume they will sell it would have to be at 30 days in advance of the release date. And what Lasereth said, it's Blizzard unless something goes horribly wrong they wont push a release date..

hehe.Anyways.. I already pre-ordered my Collector's Edition. You could only pre-order them for 2 days! They went that fast! Craziness I tell you. Anyways, can't wait for it. Will be great to finally get some new content. |

Playing TBC is completely different than playing vanilla WoW, and I have every expectation that WotLK will be just as different from TBC. Other than some baseline aspects which are inherent to all video games, the expansions completely changes how the games work and are played. If it doesn't appeal to you, great, but don't come to a WoW related thread just to tell us we're wasting our time.

My boyfriend got a beta key yesterday. Don't know what that means for the release date, but he's really excited about it. It took all of yesterday evening to download, and he hasn't gotten a chance to play it yet. I'm sure it's torturing him while he's at work.

onesnowyowl: Ya I bet your boyfriend is dying at work, heh. I didn't get into the beta, but that's perfectly fine by me, gives me more time to focus on getting more end-game content done and get my factions all exalted. Let's not forget professions as well. So much to do, so little time. |

I think pretty much all MMORPG's are repetitive to be honest. Go do that one thing to kill that one guy and get the reward from it, rinse and repeat. I mean if you think about it, they're all pretty linear when you break it down. I just like WoW because the story you get with it all makes me feel like I'm actual accomplishing something. I do quests just to see where the story goes, hehe.

TBC totally and completely changed WoW. I was honestly shocked at how different TBC was. I thought the expansion was downright amazing, particularly the beautiful zones created in the outlands. They are all so wildly different and vast and well-designed. I imagine WotLK will be the same.

One of the biggest problems with TBC was Hellfire was packed for weeks after release, even though spawn rates were changed to be more dynamic it was way to crowded. This time around they made 2 starting areas which should hopefully ease that problem somewhat.
Well done expansions in any game have the drawback that people tend to move toward the new zones which leaves the old zones underpopulated. I loved running the 55+ classic WoW instances as people moved into TBC finding a same level group for those instances was much more difficult. |

I've been looking over my SO's shoulder at the beta and it looks really nifty! One of the small changes I'm really looking forward to is the vanity pet screen. I love vanity pets, and I've collected quite a few, but I couldn't have too many due to bag space. Now that won't be an issue. Same with mounts--I'm kind of a mount whore. My boyfriend is really excited about the new battlegrounds.
I'm torn between two servers when the expansion comes out, and it will depend on my SO and roommate as to where I end up playing the most. My main is Firina on Tichondrius, but I'm not sure we'll be on there much as my boyfriend more or less quit raiding, and his guild is one of the top raiding guilds on Tich. My co-main is Idriliel on Llane, and I suspect we'll be on there more.

Speaking of the Death Knight, that start at lvl 55. I have a fear that they will implement a "pre-made character" starting point at like level 30, 40, or 50 at some point in the future. The recruit a friend and its 3x XP bonus is bad enough with people that don't know how to play their class, but I hope they don't cave in and allow pre-mades..
When Death Knight was first announced didn't they say it would be an option only upon reaching level 80? I'm not sure if I dreamed that or not. I do think 55 is to low it should at least be 70. |

You dreamed it. 55 is more or less a midway point in leveling time, and really the fuss about 70s not knowing their class hardly stems from quick leveling - bad PUGs have existed forever! Besides, the difference in optimum playstyle between leveling and the endgame is great enough, in most cases, to be just about relearning your class (which takes all of a week, unless you have a learning difficulty).
