Rock Band 2!

Alrighty folks.. the awesomeness that is Rock Band 2 has been released and you've had time to go get it and play it. What are your thoughts?

I, for one, absolutely LOVE IT. It's everything Rock Band 1 was, with a hell of a lot of great additions.

- Online Band World Tour? Check.
- Solo Band World Tour? Check.
- Freestyle mode (in which I put on any streaming music from my computer and drum along?) Check.
- Daily Challenges? Oh god check.
- Amazing setlist? Double check!

Seriously folks, if you're a fan of Rock Band 1, you're going to absolutely fall in love with Rock Band all over again with their next installment. Go, get it, now. You can thank me later.

As for you xbox360 users, if you want to rock out and/or form a band, I'm more than willing to start a TFP Band with some of you. Just look me up on xbox live. My username is DJ Wunder.

Sa-weet! I don't own Rock Band, but a good friend does, and I absolutely love it. I should go buy RB 2 for her so we can play

I noticed that the drums got significantly harder (more things to hit).

I can't imagine the guitar itself getting any more difficult, but i do hope they increased the difficulty of the songs themselves. rock band 1 was far too easy, there were only about 1-2 songs that were interesting to play.

oh the guitar did get harder. Rockband 1 was terribly easy. I'm glad they upped the difficulty. I wonder if GH4 will have the same guitar difficulty as GH3 because that was hard.

I'm really loving Rockband 2 though. I just with they would have had a bundle with the new drumset right away. I hate the current drumset and I hope the new ones are a large improvement.

There is a new drum set out by itself already that is a new version for rockband 2.

There will be a different set coming out tho that will cost about $300 or so that you can fully convert into a real electronic drum kit.

right now i can only sing the vocals on rock band 2 and they seem a bit easier than the first, tho that may be due to my practice with rock band 1. i do like the songs tho, they are fun to sing i never thought they would put battery for metallica in or a song by alice in chains.

Tip! - If you want the vocal expert 100% achievement and/or the 5 gold star achievement all you have to do is play Sabotage by the Beastie Boys (on expert of course.) the song is 100% spoken word so all you have to do is pretty much hum continuously into the mic. The hardest part will be trying to find a spot to catch your breath.

The $300 drum kit that you're referring to is the Ion Drum Kit, which can be found at Drum Rocker. I'm definitely saving up for this bad boy, because it's a bad ass kit, and I really would like something more reliable for drumming. I believe it's already out, considering you can order it from their site. $300 is no joke, but as previously stated, considering it's also a real electronic drum kit, it makes it pretty worth it. However, if you're only getting the drum kit for the cymbals, just save your money for when they release the addon's for the typical drum kit. Not sure when those are getting released though.

As for the difficulty, ya I think everything got up'd a bit on the difficulty meter. I haven't checked vocals though since I live in an apartment and don't sing well when I think other people can hear me (I do great karaoke, but not rock band, and I have a loud voice, hehe). I'm still going through a solo tour on guitar, and definitely finding that it's more difficult than Rock Band 1.

based on what happened with the guitar hero aerosmith game, i would say they will not maintain the same difficulty level as gh3.

I picked it up Sunday and between it and VIP: II, I can't find a spare moment.

I really like what they've done with the world tour and the challenges. The setlist leaves a bit to be desired, but the positives far outweigh the negatives as far as that's concerned.

yeah I know but I meant I wanted them to bundle the package together like they did with RB1. But they will be doing that next month or something I guess.

My roommate is seriously thinking of getting that Ion Drum Kit though so we'll see.

Are the Guitar parts any harder for RB2? I couldn't beat the last tier of GH3 on expert but managed to 5 star most of the rockband songs on expert. The downloadable content was a little harder so I'm kinda hoping RB2 will continue that trend.

That should answer your question cybermike.

In summary.. yes.. they made it harder.

Someone explain Freestyle mode to me! Are you telling me I can stream music and play guitar to it? Come on now, that would be a dream come true . . .

Freestyle mode is actually for drums. Yes, you can play music on your xbox360 at the same time and drum along. I tested it out with My Chemical Romance and it was fun as hell. You're just drumming along to the song, not replacing the drums, if that makes sense. Still a great mode though. I found a lot of fun with it.
