How to whistle?

Yeah, thats pretty much it. I want to know how can produce music by whistling. I know how to produce sound by whistling, but its flat and monotonous. What i want is to whistle melodious sounds that have varying tone and pitch, thus music. Or is good whistling skills are a natural talent that comes by birth?

Changing the sound is accomplished by varying the position of your tongue and the position and tension in your lips. Play around to figure out how to change the pitch. If you need to fine-tune, recording yourself and playing back immediately will help you train your ear so you can hear yourself more accurately. You may not become a virtuoso, but you should find yourself able to carry a decent tune.

Put your lips together and blow.

Good Whistling comes from being able to blow really good.

It doesn't matter how much you blow if you don't know what to do with your lips.

Make a small "o" shape with your mouth. Pucker slightly and exhale through your lips. As you exhale, experiment with different diameters. Try blowing up and down. Once you've gotten a sound, start again and practice finding the sound. If you're like me, with my big sexy brass player's lips, you'll whistle around a C. After your comfortable with your note, move around with the note.

Yes, it's a natural talent, but that doesn't mean that you can't do it. Once you've mastered lip whistling, move on to teeth whistling. I'll explain that one to you when you're ready. After that, tongue whistling. If there's time, nose whistling.

Experiment flexing/moving the back or front of your tongue, once you get a basic sound. You should be able to change the pitch. I have to re-teach myself how every month, now that I have braces, and that is what I do.

From Kill Bill? That's relatively easy. Once one masters different notes, it should follow.

I believe that sites like www.putfile.com will host audio.

Petre, I can whistle while breathing in, and can make more notes that way. Give it a try?

yeah, i kinda can whistle by breathing in too. Its just i can't produce a polytonal whistle very well, its like my lips are locked to a single tune once i start whistling. Anyhow, i'll try to upload a few of my whistling recording soon, so y'all can see what i'm talking about.

Ok - how about this one... I want to learn to do that really loud whistling you get when you put your fingers in your mouth. Can anyone advise exactly how to do this?

... ... I also like to do that little percussion part that the Tin Man does that ends with the steam whistle blowing out the top of his head...
