How to find if someone died?

Is there a website that has a comprehensive list of all people who have died? My mom is trying to find out if a certain person died.

sounds like a pay day..

if its not a notable person, then google? if not try the newspapers in the death and birth sections. maybe the public library would have all the local newspapers.

has she tried the social security death index?

Social Security Death Index Interactive Search

I can vouch for the currentness of it, my grandmother died in June and she is already listed on it

Guy goes to the doctor and says,

"I think my wife's died"

"What makes you think that?"

"Well - the sex is that same, but the laundry's piling up".

This one's pretty good, too. I work with a friend of mine on his genealogy and we've found it to be a good supplemental source.

Jewels the only problem with what you posted is that if you do the national search it takes you to the index where you have to pay to read the entire obit (personal pet peeve of mine that older online obits are not free), but if you see one that looks promising it give you the publication and the date so that you can find a library that keeps that paper on microfilm and try to find it that way, but it did also have a tab for the social security deaths that I mentioned.

Absolutely. Most newspapers will charge you for anything older than 30 days or a year, depending on the newspaper. Still, another tool in the arsenal can't hurt.

That's funny. I could have said that about my ex... if she did luandry.

As far as the OP, I got nothing.
