i must sleep on the left side of my partner... so i guess that means the right side of the bed if you're looking at it. if he's in the bed, i need to be able to cuddle and put my head on his heart at some point. that's the pure and simple logistics of it. he prefers to be closer to the door, so our current home freaks him out because he's not on that side. but i literally cannot sleep well on the "wrong" side.

if i'm alone, i sleep diagonally with my head towards the left and feet towards the right.
funny thing is... i have to fall asleep turned on my left side. which puts me facing away from my SO. and he has to be on his right. it's funny.

I generally don't care, I take the side of the bed that the person I am sharing the bed with doesn't want, atm I sleep on the right hand side of the bed facing it (against the wall) because the SO is a shift worker and comes to bed at all hours (generally about 3 - 4 am since he works through til midnight or 2am)

When travelling with my friend Shannon who prefers the right hand side of the bed I am on the left. I'm pretty easy going about it I guess.

I always sleep on the side that is closest to the door. Not that we live in an area where we really have to worry about break-ins, it's just habit I guess.

I also sit where I can see the entire room in any restaurant, walk on the side of the sidewalk nearest the street (when with my wife or a female), etc. I don't even consciously think about it most times.

But I can sleep anywhere (esp. if I'm tired enough), so when he's snoring loudly and resting comfortably - I just go & sleep on the living room couch or in the guest room! It's nicer & easier than being bitchy & "jabbing" him in the ribs and saying "roll over".

Years of adaption!
Oh, no no no... what you do is stroke his hair while he is falling asleep. When he starts snoring, just pluck a hair out of the top of his head. When he snorts and wakes up, you pretend you are sleeping. He falls back to sleep...snores...pluck! This goes on until he either stops snoring, or he has a bald spot atop his head.

I sleep on the left side. Not because I care, but because she sleeps on the right. One thing the navy tought me, is how to sleep anywhere. Any where. I used to take naps leaning against the coke machine in the smoke pit. No, I wasn't sitting down.

I prefer to be on the left if its a big bed and I'm with her. If its a small bed, I need to be up against the wall or I won't stay on because she's all over the place. By myself, I cover every square inch throughout the night. Bad neck and back don't make me a very sound sleeper.

ItWasMe, you sure are inventive. I remember your interesting advice in the thread on manners at the movies too...you put a smile on my face!

That is how I am too. Although for 20 years of my life I had a twin bed and I was on both sides since it was so small.

But I've never had anybody else in bed with me, except for one time during spring break I had a girl from Kansas on my left and a girl from Iraq on my right. Ah, good times...

Now I just sleep on the side closest to the door because I am so tired that is the closest place to crash.
