GM Motor Club, good or bad idea?

I will have had my car 3 years next month, which means the roadside assistance and warranty are up.

I received something in the mail from GM Motor Club saying that for 59 dollars a year they will extend RA and I receive

* 24-hour Emergency Roadside Service
* Coverage for the Entire Household
* Unlimited Towing (no preset mileage or dollar limits)
* Roadside Services
* Lockout
* Fuel Service
* $750 trip interruption reimbursement
* Discounts on goods and services at home and away

does anyone have this? have you used it? is it worth the 59 bucks for the "peace of mind"?

I don't have it since I don't own a GM car...but comparing it to my AAA membership and the similar associated benefits, the $59 seems like a good deal. I would go for it.

thanks

I guess another question I should have asked was....with all the restructuring GM is going thru, I wonder if this will be affected in the months to come?

I'm a AAA fan, not just because of the basics offered which are similar, but because of the discounts that are available worldwide.

Just sounds like another typical extended warranty scam. Is it actually from General Motors? I'm betting it isn't, but even so, it would just be something else that won't have to be honored after BK. Go with AAA.

I'd get the "what if GM goes out of business" question answered first, but for $59/year, that sounds like a total deal.

Does it cover you when you drive a non-GM vehicle and provide the same coverage?
Does it cover you on any car you drive? so if you borrow a friend's car can you use it also?

or if your friend cannot get their car started, can you be a good friend and use your autoclub service to help them out and save them money?

Good questions. AAA covers the MEMBER, regardless of whether it's their car they need help with or not. I've gotten jump-starts for friends on my AAA membership before, it's no problem. I assumed the "coverage for the entire household" meant that, but it's a good thing to double-check.

It does cover the member, not the vehicle, and any vehicle, not just GM.

Roadside assistance and warranties are completely different things, and this is from GM.
