Name that tune...

Seems as though the music trivia thread has once again died. I figured why not do a "Name that tune" thread. Post a couple lines from a tune and see if rings any memory bells.

Once again google may be your friend but you're not allowed help from friends here.

So, to start things off...

Well I was movin down the road in my v-8 ford,
I had a shine on my boots, I had my sideburns lowered.
With my New York brim and my gold tooth displayed,
Nobody give me trouble cause they know I got it made.

I used to do a little but a little wouldn't do it
So the little got more and more
I just keep tryin' to get a little better

That there is Mr. Brownstone by G N' R.

Let me get some caffeine in my system while I think of one.

How about:

I'm headin' down the Atlanta highway,
lookin' for the love getaway
Heading for the love getaway, love getaway,
I got me a car, it's as big as a whale

I never could figure out what "tin roof, rusted" means.

You want to give us another Leander?

I saw an interview with the band one day and they said it means nothing, was ad-libbed in the studio while laying down the vocals.

Next please, Leander.

Yeah, Leander, no fair answering then not throwing out something new.

And there WAS a love shack with a rusted tin roof outside of Athens, GA. If I remember right, that's where the B-52s and REM both played their first shows. It burned down a couple of years ago and made the news, mainly on the popularity of this song.

All I know is the interviewer asked if it was southern slang for being knocked up. One of the ladies said no, I just made it up in the studio because there was an awkward pause in the song. Maybe she made it up thinking about that "Love Shack?"

While we wait on Leander (anyone want to put a clock on that?), I did a little research and remembered where I'd heard this. It was in the liner notes of their box set, but it looks like I misremembered the details.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Shack backs me up and shows where my memory was flawed.

Well, maybe I'm misremembering her comments? You seem to be correct it is indeed about a rusted tin roof, I concede.

Edit:

I do think there's a reason the interviewer asked the question:

http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=375382

http://www.theb52s.com/faq.html

Maybe I misheard her answer, but I clearly remember her saying it had nothing to do with being pregnant.

ok, here's one

I was 21 years when I wrote this song
I'm 22 now but I won't be for long
People ask when will I grow up to be a man
But the girls I loved in school are already pushing prams
