Minor Threat- Straight Edge

The Descendents- Hope

The 80's were a very good time for punk I'd say.

I completely agree! Since your link is broken, lets try this one because it needs to be in this thread! lol

I just found out that your video isn't broken, it just doesn't work in Canada so this video is for all the Canucks lol

i think this is one of the great political poems/tracks ever.

gil scott-heron: b-movie

he saw all of it.
all of it.
the record came out in 1981.
by the end of the decade, he wasn't on a record label any more.

fela saw it too, but from a different place, one where avoidance was harder to pull off.
this came out in 1977 but i only heard it in around 1983.

fela anikulapo kuti and afrika 70: colonial mentality (excerpt)

the cut-off is brutal.
but so's everything else.

art ensemble of chicago: theme de yoyo

this is from 1969, but again it only drifted into my world in the early 1980s.
i saw them in 1978.
that show altered everything--i've never been the same as i was before that.
i worked my way into their stuff bit by bit.
this is awesome.

not all dreamtime is retrograde tho.

chameleons uk.
monkeyland

don't fall (live)

meanwhile, somewhere else entirely:

model 500: night drive through babylon

There are way too many to choose from.
This one stands out in my mind.

That one, along with "True" and "Sweet Dreams" had to be among the most inane tunes of the decade.

I am quite impressed at the restraint of TFP members. This is a thread where one could legitimately post Rick Astley singing "Never Gonna Give You Up", and it wouldn't be a Rickroll. But no one has, and I thank you all for that.

Nothing says 80's to me like

How about some of Neil Finn's work from the 80s:

From 1980:
Split Enz: "I Got You"

From 1984:
Split Enz: "Message to My Girl"

From 1986:
Crowded House: "Don't Dream Its Over"

From 1988:
Crowded House: "Better Be Home Soon" (my personal favorite)

That reminded me of one of the more interesting vids of 1987. You can clearly see the band members are barely trying to mimic singing the lyrics.

The hair. I'd kill for that hair. I wouldn't style it like that, but I'd like to have it.

Hahaha...and they all look so HAPPY. How bizarre. But great pick nonetheless--I love that song.

Looks more like a music to visual synch problem, but a in lot of these videos, their lypsynching leaves something to be desired.
