Um. I'm not a moderator or anything, but a list of links isn't really a discussion, or even the beginnings of a discussion. All I see is a mishmash of 'strange, but true!' stories for a slow news day, hoaxes, conspiracy theories, and hypothetical science-fictiony ideas. If you want to discuss something, discuss it.

you are correct, this is not a discussion. I never claimed it was.

That's a whole lot of links. You can't even tell me why you picked them?

Most were from a different message board about "creepy" stuff, there are a few others that I had from a while back and found entertaining.

I was not aware that every thread had to be a discussion of some sort, why can't this just be a "load of links to creepy/strange wikipedia entries" post?

pick one you don't know about, click it, and learn something new!

Threads everywhere save Nonsense and Found on the Net are supposed to be discussion-based.

Apparently you're not familiar with TFP Policy and Guidelines when it comes to starting threads. Here's a little snippit that seems applicable:
Quote:
Thread Starting Guidelines

With the exception of a few specific forums, this site is centered around DISCUSSION and therefore all threads must have some conversational purpose.
If an external resource (news article, story, image, etc.) is being posted for discussion, the thread starter must quote the relevant part of the content along with their own thoughts and opinions on the topic. That is to say, you can't just post a link or a quote without adding your own words.
If possible, check to make sure that you're not starting a topic that is already being discussed. It is OK to rehash a topic that hasn't been covered in a while.
Please follow up with your threads and post in them frequently. A good thread starter will tend to their replies to keep the discussion moving.
You can read more of the guidelines here: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/get-til...29-2008-a.html

I can't hear your opinions on these matters by clicking on those wiki links. That's what this forum is about - hearing the perspectives of our members and learning more about what everyone else thinks.

A blog entry or "Found on the Net" are better places for posting something like you created here. If you feel like editing your OP to elaborate on why these particular stories appealed to you and how you think they might be related to one another, then it could become an interesting discussion-provoking and thereby thought-provoking thread.

Another option is to take each of these wiki links that you so graciously put together, and attacking one each day. Start a new thread by posting the link, then write a paragraph that outlines your take on the matter. This encourages people to discuss these issues - you may learn something interesting. If you don't learn something interesting out of it - I probably will! I am a sucker for new perspectives.

I just read about unit 731, I feel sick to my stomach now, literally.

I can't believe that humans can do those sort of things to other humans. Its absolutely frightening.

AHHHHH.. MRSA.. I had to deal with the ex-mayor of San diego (complete and utter asshole) and he had MRSA and the charge nurse didn't even tell me. I was so ready to fucking sue becaue she's supposed to tell ALL staff working with the patient's fluids.

GAHHH.. I HATED that place sooo much. thank god I'm out of that god forsaken craphole facility.

Anyways. I've always wanted to see the Belmez faces. I read that they're disappearing now. :C

And the Voynich manuscript is way weird. I want to see it in person and study it closely. Last month I found a website for it.. but I forgot the url. :/

Original Spanish Kitchen... I think I've heard of that before. I think I read it in a book of scary stories way back when I was in elementary school. Apparently, people would look into the windows of the place and see that the tables were still set and there would be food appearing and disappearing from the plates and the food never seemed to get old. It was a cool story.

I would, but if you look up higher in this thread, I was yelled at for doing so without providing some semblance of discussion.

Very interesting reading, thanks for posting crack very much appreciated.

Wouldn't be worried about getting yelled at here, either someone on an ego trip, someone has their panties in a bunch, or it's someones time of the month. It's fuckin paranoia how much discussion do they expect a 20 page dissertation on the links provided? If they really want discussion in paranoia I'd say 'I found these links they seemed interesting, read them and find out if you don't like them, tough shit.'

I'll take a look tomorrow and see what odd wiki links I can add, most likely without discussion, so the fuhrer's of the forum will just have to deal haha just playing mods.
