Posting Abortion Details On-line
Oklahoma abortion law to put patients' details online | World news | guardian.co.uk
I'm against abortion, but I figure I won't ever have to make that choice, so I generally stay silent. But this strikes me as absolutely ridiculous. While not posting the actual names, there are answers to 34 questions for each abortion to be posted on-line. I assure you, I could identify most people in Oklahoma with their responses to 34 questions. How, in any leap of illogic, can the woman's education level really relate to the need for an abortion right now? I don't particularly want to debate the right or wrong of abortion... I see this more as the intrusion of government into areas that can in no way be considered their business. Laws of this nature are becoming more common, more intrusive, and more draconian.

"Suh halp meh, Gee-sooz!" Dumbass white people again.
... Good take on it, Baraka. I was thinking about ruling in United States v. Virginia (1996): "The state may not rely on overbroad generalizations about the talents, capacities or preferences of women." Something about this messes with that outta spite... after the fact, ya know?

While I see no problem with collecting data like this for public health research purposes, it seems to me that this is more an attempt to intimidate women into not getting abortions. The thing about collecting data for public health research: you don't want your data collection methods to bias your data. So if you really want to study SES data with respect to abortion, you'd gather data in a way that would encourage women to participate.

More like....
Neopuritan'd! (Let's get to the source of the matter.) Why not make the "ab'rshinist murderers!" wear a scarlet "A" "A" is for abortionist, kids! See what happens when you murder the innocent unborn children of GOD? Public shame! Make her wear it. Make it the size of an underdeveloped fetus and have her sew it on her shirt or coat, right ever her womb. They should be made to feel their guilt, and it should be made public.

This revolting invasion of privacy cannot be legal, surely?

Legal seems a fluid term with fundamentalists.
I hear there will be a DDOS on it if it actually launches.

There are laws collectively called HIPAA, which prohibits acess to public health information from Just Anyman.
Whats next? Stoning of these women, murder, inundated with judgmental mail? Poor, poor precedent as usual with these types of groups.
