The sacking of KP

Pretty much couldnt say it better than this BBC.CO.UK blog:

"Just as the Australian team staggers to its weakest in a quarter century, with the home Ashes Series just around the corner, English cricket has taken careful aim and shot itself in both feet"

Just a disaster. In cricket more than in ANY other sport, the captain is the leader, the number one, and where the buck stops. If KP didnt have faith in Moores, if for whatever reason he didnt want Moores, then the guy has to go... a long time before the spat gets into the public eye.

I like Strauss as a man, but at the end of the day of Tresco was mentally up to it Strauss probably wouldnt even be in the team.

The ECB knew exactly what they were getting when they appointed KP: a man who may be brash, arrogant, assertive, but in my opinion a born winner and born leader. If they wanted a "Yes" man, they never should have appointed him, and now they have sacked him for being brash, arrogant, assertive - etc, basically for being who he is. The possibility is that now we not only have a divided team which is in shambles, we may also have lost the best English batsmen of his generation.

The Aussies must be pissing themselves laughing at this bloody shambles.

Lets hope the boys can pull together and take strength for this... but to be honest, English cricket is a fucking laughing stock right now.

Im sorry to keep replying to my own topic, but do you think if Punter or Inzy got dropped (when they were dropped in Inzamman's case) that they are gonna come back and bat number 4?

If Graeme Smith got stripped of the captaincy would he still open?

Having the mentality of a true leader is a unique and special quality. i dont think that KP is gonna come back and if he does I cant see how Andy Strauss can lead the boys. It is 100% correct to make Strauss ODI captain... whether or not he is teh best ODI opening bat, the team needs a leader now and we need to give Andy every chance. I think he is a good man, its just a question of whether he is good enough to play for England and whether he can be tough enough as a captain.

But, at the end of the day... we dont know who our bowlers are (in English conditions Sidebottom and for me you always pick Tony Parmesan because you need a spinner and we dont have a batsmen who can give 10/15 overs as Ramps or a young Vaughan could.

But at the end of the day we are going into the Ashes and the Windies:

Without really knowing who our wicket keeper is
Without really knowing if Harmison is gonna play or not
Without knowing if Broad is up for it
Without knowing if Colly is good enough

Without knowing our best 11

Its too much to add to that not knowing if KP, who is probably in the top 3 batsmen playing today (with Tendulkar and Chanderpaul) is gonna play, AND if the Captain has the team.
