Rick Fox-Lakers

With Rick Fox out for the rest of the playoffs, does this change your opinion of the Lakers title hopes?

Although the team is obviously driven by Shaq and Kobe, all 3 championships have featured role players, like Fox, Horry and Shaw, stepping up on any given night.

With Fox down, someone like Devean George needs to step in.

I think losing Fox could mean the difference against a team like San Antonio or Sacramento.

The Lakers are lead by Shaq and Kobe, but your right if it wasn't for Fisher, Fox, Horry or any of the other role players the Lakers wouldn't have won there titles. I don't care how good Shaq and Kobe are they can't do it alone. So after saying that, I think with Fox being out its going to be lot more challenging for the Lakers, but only time will tell if they can keep things together. Remember they won game four without Fox. Though his defense will be missed.

I think that when the series is over, and we look back, the timberwolves will really kick themselves for not beating the Lakers in Game 4. Now, its a best of three. And the Lakers have life.

I'm not sure that losing Fox is a big deal. He was playing so hurt for them throughout the series that this is probably not a major blow. But any time you limit a teams options, its a bonus.

Go Garnett.

losing Fox is a huge deal, but this is Devean George's time to shine. He has shown that he can go out there and be more effective than Fisher, Fox and Horry combined, but he just doesn't get that kind of playing time anymore.

Go Devean!

Fox does not bring anything to the table. The only reason he starts is because the rest of the bench sucks more than he does.

Very impressed with the Laker win last night. 30 points! But it's not over yet. Thye just have to take advantage of home court in the next game & seal the deal. I don't think the Wolves will just roll over for them that easily, but that's what I'm hoping for.

Being from Portland, I have to say that I hope that Fox dies in a pool of his own vomit. Portlander's in general hate the lakers but there seems to be a more intense hatred of Fox up here, I dunno what it is, but I fully support it

Fox is not the reason why they win, but an important role player, the bench is not deep. However, defense from george etc and letting Shaq and Kobe win games can still work

hmmm.. maybe i posted to the wrong laker thread, since i have the same to say.. but

they can still win without fox, and i still hope they don't, but the scenario in which they most fittingly lose is hard to conjure past the next round.

No one else can actually do what Fox does the way he does it, and certainly not DeveanG. the reason he doesn't get the playing time is he didn't play that way when he got time this season. He is a Laker though, and wants to stay that way (until Kobe goes to Memphis in 2005) so he'll step up.

I have liked fox in the past, and like the little extras and thehead games, along with tenacious D.. but when he went after christie in the runway back in November or whatever, i thought he should have gone to jail...

...in the second round fisher on Parker probably works, George on Malik Rose or Jackson?? not sure if that works... Robinson and Duncan ought to have the strategy to keep Shaq out of it, make him come outside etc, and the Spurs Pick and Roll options are big!

No..i think they're going to do better with Horry playing more minutes. Fisher is also stepping it up big time. Watch fisher on defense; he's a monster.

For San Antonio it'll be hard for them to cover both duncan and robinson beacause they're so tall so Kobe needs to be huge

Ummmm.....didn't Devean just go down? Do you think he can still shine on crutches?

Rick Fox is one of the most over-rated, no talent, slow-footed players in the NBA. The ONLY reason I like him, is because I like his wife, Vanessa Williams. Lucky dog! As far as being a role player, John Paxton was much better when he was playing for the Bulls during the Jordan saga there in Chicago. Hell, if I had Shaq AND Kobe on my team, I could hit some shot too. It ain't that hard when no one is covering you.
