WHA Hockey. What do you think?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/story?id=1974554

Dammit I miss hockey. Just had to get that out first.

What do you all think of this by the WHA? It's a multimillion dollar tournement they are holding in hopes of getting more intrest in the league. I for one would love to see this actually work and usher in a new era of hockey, sure they are changing some of the rules around but that may not be a bad thing. The game needs to open up more, the trap system was one of the worst things to happen to hockey in the past years. Sure it wins games but it is boring to watch. The reason I fell in love with hockey was the fast and amazing play, the rough physical aspect and the camaraderie of a team.

The intrest of hockey in the USA is pretty much nil, but it has grown in the past few years. Is it enough for the WHA to survive? God I hope so.

I think it's a cool idea to fill the void left by the NHL lock-out. It'd be nice to see it succeed. I miss watching (non re-run) hockey on TV. They only mentioned a few of the cities they have contracts with. I'd like to know what the rest of the cities are. I don't know if there's enough interest here in the U.S. for it or not. The diehard fans are missing hockey, and would welcome it. The once in a while fans are forgetting about hockey altogether. It's a sad thing to see. So they may or may not be interested. Then there's going to be some fans who won't be interested because their NHL team isn't a part of the WHA, but then, that won't be a problem at all if this lock-out continues like it has been.
