I have always wondered what is said in the empty reply boxes in some of the forums. I think it would be funny to see some of the things that get people banned. To keep it discrete no one's names would have to be mentioned, or any other names mentioned in the post, and strip the quotes from it... Wouldn't anyone else just get a laugh to read what it takes to get banned from TFP?

I'm not a mod, but from what I've gleaned it's almost never a one-time offense that leads to banning. Usually it's a pattern of behavior including an unwillingness to submit to the rules of the site and work with the mods to bring their participation into community standards.

I have been privy to a couple fairly dramatic exits from TFP, though... But without those folks' permission to share, I don't think it'd be right to tell tales.

As usual, ratbastid hit the nail on the head. Even former members have a right to privacy. Sometimes the exits are dramatic. Sometimes they're not. In the past year, we've banned two people who weren't spammers, and I don't think that either of them had their posts deleted, unless they took a parting shot at the staff or the membership. That means that the identifying posts would be easily recognized, which means that we couldn't ever follow your suggestion.

In general, even those with severe problems with authority usually find a way to co-exist with the staff. Those that can't usually don't pass muster the first time through anyway.

The vast, vast majority of the folks that get banned are spammers. If you want me to cut and past spam into threads for you, just let me know. Somehow, I think we all want to avoid that.

And half expected this to be a common occurrence, say once a month. I did not account for spammers... just the trolls. Oh well.

I get the feeling the dickhead threshold here is pretty high for people with decent grammar who don't call people names like 3rd graders.

Nah, you can post that kind of stuff here. He sent it to you and it's spam. He's already been banned, and I don't think we have any interest in protecting spammers here.
