Links post as redirects
I noticed today when I posted a link that the URL was edited to become a redirect from TFP.
Example: Food Court Musical at Improv Everywhere. I'm just curious as to why this is. It wasn't that way yesterday, was it? EDIT: OK, that's even weirder. It DIDN'T redirect here. However, it DID redirect when I posted the same link in New embed feature - Tilted Forum Project - TFP - Sexuality, Philosophy and Political Discussion, and I had noticed it when I posted a link in the Cutters thread.

This is a desired effect. It's a SEO mod that was installed when we redid the forums.
The system grabs the link and inserts the window title.

Yeah.. its a feature. It depends on the forum you post in. If you post in a forum that guests cannot view, then your outbound link will be redirected. This is to obfuscate the referring URL so if people are looking at their referral logs, they won't be able to know the title of the thread that is linking to them. Privacy.

Oh, I'm all for SEO... I'm just curious what the redirect actually does.
And should it be turned on for all subfora, if we like it? EDIT: Halx crossposted the answer I was looking for. Thanks! SOLVED.

There's no way to change it back to OPEN, is there. Hmm.
Now that the Journals are hidden behind the login, should posted links redirect there as well?

This feature might not work on the Blogs. I can only promise that it works on the forums.

I was going to say that it doesn't appear so from the links I posted today. They did get caught by the spam moderator... which I thought was strange.
