Back button won't work

Hi all.

My back button won't work on this site and it's driving me crazy. It's TFP specific...it works just fine everywhere else. I've only noticed this the past 2 days. I don't know if this is a site issue or an issue with my computer, but I thought I'd post this anyway.

In case anyone is interested, I use I-Bulletin.

Me, too. I have to hit it twice every single time. vBulletin.
And it's TFP specific.

I'm not a tech person. I'm not going to be able to solve your problem, but maybe I can help figure out the problem. Maybe?

Are you ladies using Internet Exporer, Firefox, Safari, or another browser?

I am running TFP with internet explorer. I just switched to v-bulletin and i-bulletin and checked to see if I could use my back button. I have no problems.

What's a "back button"? Is this feature within your respective browsers?

If it is, I rarely use it because I opt for the easier to use keyboard shortcuts of 'alt + left arrow', or just 'z' when not in a text box. (pressing 'z' is Opera-specific only, I think). Also, the backspace button should work as well, but I don't think I've pressed it more than ten times total in the three years I've had this CP.

---------- Post added at 12:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:26 AM ----------

EDIT:

after the quickest google search ever (Opera's g + back button) I found an intriguing article that may be your answer (specific problem).

Back button in Internet Explorer becomes unavailable

---------- Post added at 12:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:28 AM ----------

nvrmnd, the article is from five years ago

My back button is not unavailable.
I just have to click it twice, every time.
I choose to use IE because I like it and it's easy for me to use.
I just wanted to confirm that I was having a similar issue to another user.
It's not terrible, but I remembered that Grasshopper Green was having problem and mine was sorta on the same level.
I'm not going to change my browser. Thanks.

Thanks, Cyn.

It started right after the recent changes. The Facebook linking, etc.

okay, I made a change, but now the FB connect is not available on the main styles. I'll have to look deeper into it when I have time this week.

I don't have the issue on my IE anymore. It is not changed on a few style still.

I've experienced this here and there. Not recently, but in the past. It's kind of annoying, but goes away eventually. I figured it was just something with my computer.

I use Firefox, by the way.

It allows for someone to logon with Facebook instead of the vbulletin software. When it is working 100% it will allow one to alert to the wall for posts, replies, and the like.

Once I fix the rest of it, we'll be able to draw people via Facebook.

Yes, it's back. And yes, non-IE users can be very arrogant about it or condescending to those who choose to use it, ring. I freaking hate firefox, though I have it as a backup if I need it. I choose not to nor to give anyone else flack about firefox.

I use Internet Explorer. I am going to continue to use it even though I have to hit the back button twice. Because I LIKE IT. It works for me 98% of the time and the layout to me is more aesthetically pleasing and... why the hell am I explaining myself?

IE and firefox are more or less the same now. I am looking for a very light weight browser and chrome is looking good. IE and firefox consume waaaay too much resources.

Ohh and I use firefox at home. when at work, I have to doubleclick the back button.

i´m sorry i´m not able to fix it 100%, I´m currently out of the country and when I return mid september I will try to find a permanent fix. The issue is that there are people now who have logged on with the facebook and gmail mods. I´ve got to fix it as if I remove the ability they won´t be able to log on at all.

Trivia: The hatred for IE found its roots with people who actually make websites. IE uses different non-standard interpretations of the code that programmers use to create the visuals on a website. This means that while the code is good, the website can look screwed up in IE, so the programmers have to create special exceptions in their code to make sure IE renders their site correctly.

Thanks for this. As I tried to formulate a reasonable response that might more accurately convey that it was not arrogance but frustration, I read your response. As a former web developer, this has definitely had a big effect on my perception of IE. I probably coded or designed thousands of pages during my time as a designer, and EVERY TIME it was "right, the first time" in Firefox, Safari, Konquerer, etc., etc., etc. And EVERY TIME I had to hack it to make it look right in Internet Explorer. They bastardized the w3c standards, took what they wanted, and broke everything else. Now that CSS is all-the-rave, things have gotten better.. but if I had to think about how to design a table which handles the fucked up way IE uses padding and margins ever again I will throw my computer out the window.

The rest of my hate comes from its insecurity. I really cringe to think of how many friends I've had to help reformat their machines because they obstinately insisted on IE, despite so many known and unknown, patched and unpatched vulnerabilities that allowed hackers access to essentially their entire OS. They're getting better with 7 and now 8, but still...

My question really wasn't rhetorical, either. While I can appreciate and understand why someone would choose IE for an actual reason (familiarity, fonts, etc.,) I really didn't know what reasons convinced people to stick with it. I saw none, until I read this thread.

Ok, I'm getting adjusted (sort of) to doing the click click while in TFP. However, half the time I forget where I am, do the click click, and it takes me completely out of TFP. Not complaining...just thought I'd share my humorous moments....
