So ya ever since i have used XP any program be it IRC or a P2P Program seemed to work seamlessly now you have to open ports or do something to your router..

Is there specific Ports that changed or something else?
(yes I know this did exist before SP2 I am asking what changed)

I hope I explained my question ok if not I will try to rephrase it...

If it's that much of a hassle, just disable WinXP's built-in Firewall that comes with SP2.

yes, and no...

that does help somewhat but that still seems to keep ports closed or whatever.

Anyways i have tried that in the past but still seemed to have to open certain ports manually i just dont remember what ones i did.

sp2 limits outgoing tcp connections to 10. go to http://www.lvllord.de/ and download the patcher.

So is that the main cause of most problems?

becouse i know most programs try to open or do it itself and i never had any problems connecting to irc's or P2P networks or what-have-you. but since XP SP2 it doesnt seem to always work, or most of the time just wont. either you are ok but when you try to upload something you never can. or the program just wont do anything lol
