Making ISO and playing it

I've been trying to make ISO images of game CD (Battlefield 2, Civilization 2, AoE 3, etc) and I'm having no luck with playing the cd. I've made images with NeroExpress and MagicISO and mounted both format using Daemon Tool but with recent games, it doesn't play the CD at all. However, with older games like AvP2, it works fine. Any idea?

I do this so that I wouldn't have to drag my CD book around with me whenever I play on my laptop.

http://www.gamecopyworld.com/ is your new hero.

Specifically, the section on "protected" CDs. A lot of them have the new SecuRom or Safedisk garbage, and take a bit of finagling to burn correctly. Additionally, Daemon Tools has emulation for certain copy-protection schemes. Check out the stuff on the right panel - copying Protected CDs. I'd link to it, but it's unlinkable due to the dynamic nature of their mirrors.

I would but that would kind heading toward to dragging cds and dvds around with me which is not what I want to do.

I'll check out the gamecopyworld website and see what they have in store for me.

gamecopyworld or gameburnworld both have alot of no cd/dvd files. all you do is download the right one for your game and replace the orignal with it. Basicly all it does is stop the check to make sure the dvd/cd is in the computer. Most games when they install they install all the files they need right on the hard drive so you shouldnt even need the image of the orignal. But... for online games changing the exe file might trigger some sort of anti cheat or something. Dunno about that for sure though. Would need to ask in each games forum or something like that for people that might know.
