Webmail SmartSieve spam filter help

I am trying to get my school's webmail client to correctly filter spam messages before it forwards all my email to my gmail account.

We use a IMP webmail client, and then "SmartSieve" for writing filtering scripts. Somewhere along the line a spam mail header is added to the email message, which the smartsieve filter can look for and decide to delete it etc.

For some reason, the smartsieve filter will correctly identify spam, and even put it into the correct folder on the webmail side labeled "junk", but it still continues to forward all email to my gmail account.

I know I am overlooking something stupid but I cant think of it, and have been trying to figure it out for about an hour. I made sure to have the filter ordered before the forward. I think it has something to do with the unconditional forward, but I saw no other options.

I'm hoping someone is familiar with this setup, webmail with sieve, since I think most college campuses use the same thing.
