Partition recovery?

I recently upgraded to vista. I had two partitions on my drive prior to upgrading. After I upgraded it lost my second partition, vista doesn't see it. I can find the space using disk management. In the management tools I can create a "new simple volume". I've done this, without formatting my drive, but it doesn't allow me to access my files.

What do I do?

Try this on it... Sounds like it just formatted the whole drive to one partition. Take it to a friends house and plug it in to see if it can read the old partition.

Also, I recommend a small 80GB hard drive to keep your OS('s) on and leave no important data on it. When you reformat you pop your data discs out and leave the only real one in.
