Brew you are many things, but an idiot is not one of them.

Remove Firefox from your computer and reinstall. If that doesn't work, switch browsers. I switched back to Safari and I've been very happy with it's speed and stability. There are a plethora of other browsers out there... and if they give you the same problems that helps to diagnose the cause.

brew: i have a stupid question...does ie work on the same computer, as far as the inability to use push-button commands inside firefox? i'm curious if you're using a wireless mouse? if so...does changing the batteries in the wireless mouse make any difference? my parents' computer does this from time to time...i've never noticed any firefox problems, persay...but their wireless mouse batteries lose power...

That's a new one, no wireless mouse. But I like the way you think!

If you do what willravel said, you've only attempted half of the fix. The other half is to try a new profile. This is a step beyond the "safe mode" that was suggested on MozZine; it removes all extensions, preferences, settings, etc. The site seems to work for other people, so the problem is likely to be somewhere on your end. (It works for me, but I'm using the nightly builds that will become Firefox 3, so that's of no real use to you.)

And the rant? Well, it seemed a bit off-topic to me. But no one on MozZine has criticized you for the rant (and I've seen it there), so I guess no harm no foul.

I have the same problem as you, brew. It doesn't happen at any of the sites i normally go to, but yeah, it is kind of a pain in the ass to have to open ie to look at one site.

Sometimes this happens with FaceBook for me. I close Firefox and run CCleaner. When I install something really crazy, I uninstall FF and then delete the program directory and hit CCleaner on my registry, later reinstall FF. That fixes it pretty well.

What was out of line with the rant?
