Technoporn

Share your favourite gear. Post what you long for. Let us know what you're getting!

Electronics, computers, gadgets, software!

It's Technoporn!

This week I signed up for a securities course, and so I ordered this baby:
It's a Sharp EL-738 business/finance calculator.

I'll be using it to calculate ratios and shit. It's going to be fucking awesome!

It's equipped to handle:
  • Compound interest calculations
  • Bond calculations
  • Constant/chain calculations

I have to wait up to 5 business days before it arrives with my package. I'm forming an unhealthy obsession over it.

Okay, whaddya got?

I picked up 3dsMax 2010, Maya 2010, MotionBuilder 2010, Mudbox 2010 Softimage 2010 and Zbrush

Going to upgrade to FCP v3 this week (even though FCP sucks).

hmm I know I picked up something else.. can't remember what it was though.

Mmm...67 terabyte server

Mmm...petabyte in a rack

edit: I also have had a huge boner for Samsung's LED TV's since I saw them at CES. I think when my DLP bulb finally bites it I'll be upgrading.

On the topic of something I'm actually GETTING, I just preordered a CinemaTube:

The AppleTV with Boxee solution is great...right up until you start trying to play HD content, at which point it takes a big 3fps frame-skipping dump. For $99, I figured even if I just use this to play HD content, I can't go wrong!

I love my PS3.

The feature I use the most (more than actual gaming) is using it as a media server to stream video and music from my computer on my TV and surround sound. Love it.

IronKey - The World's Most Bitchin' Hardware Encrypted Flash Drive

IronKey - The World's Most Secure Flash Drive. AES-256 encrypted, epoxy-filled, waterproof, private-browsing, anti-brute-force-attack equipped, tamper-proof, US-military-approved flash drive. Just thinking about it makes my girlie parts tingle.

I want one for the same reason I always carry a condom: best to have and not need, worst to need and not have.

Got a new compy coming in a few hours..

Intel i7 870 cpu
4gigs DDR3
Nvidia QuadroFX5600 video card

those are the big hitters of the new machine.. the video card is drooooool...

I think it's got a SSD in it for the main drive also.. I'm not sure.. I just told them what processor and video card I wanted.. they mentioned getting a SSD to run the OS and everything else will go either on the media servers or the native 5TB's I'm running.

just hoping the guy who's putting it together doesn't fuck it all up.
