A Good Newsreader ?

I've never tried using a newsreader before. Are there are good free ones that people would recommend (idiot proof please)

I use Nomad News. You can pay more for better downloads, but for just reading it or Forte Free Agent should work fine.

I've used FreeAgent for years (well I upgraded to Agent after about a year).

Outlook has one in it, but it's . . . well . . . it's Outlook.

I agree with TwistedFate, my personal favorite is Agent. The free version, FreeAgent is good too. They continue to upgrade it and I have never had a problem with it.

Thanks - I've tried to use outlook and it wasn't very good, so I'll try FreeAgent

If you're *only* interested in the binaries, I can suggest Powergrab. It's fast, it's multi-threaded (downloads more things at once), and it's very easy to use once you get the hang of it.

I've used Agent for years too, and was happy with it, but it just lacks a lot of Powergrab's features. However, Powergrab cannot show messages (it's *only* aimed at getting binaries), while Agent can...

Ditto. I used Free Agent, and got enough value to buy Agent proper.

I'm also a fan of Xnews - I started out using News Xpress, but that stopped being updated and Agent just seemed too different for me.

for downloading binary files, I haven't found anything better than grab-it. Get it here, it's free. http://www.shemes.com
