Internet Explorer.....

Ok, is there any way I can completely delete only my internet explorer?? Everytime I click on it an error comes up says something like........Iexplorer has caused an error in unknown. I currently use Windows ME and I was just wondering if I can only delete the internet explorer and not erase any of my other files. I plan to re-install it after I've deleted it. Any thoughts ???

Why delete it. Just run the Internet Explorer Repair Tool and that should fix your unknown error problem.

As far as I know you can't remove IE from Windows ME. I suggest trying to fix it... if it dosn't work... try and reinstall ME.

If that dosn't work either format or use Mozilla or Opera and forget about IE.

I.E. is actually built into the operating system, any attempt to remove it usually ends up corrupting the OS.

If you upgraded to IE6 then you can go into add remove programs, and click on IE6. It will bring up a menu asking if you want to repair or remove. Select repair. Most of the time that will fix ya up.

as I mentioned, it can be done BUT results have varied wildly. Some people kill all traces and no ill effect happen to them, and their system is much more stable and faster.
And then some people just end up have to reinstall because the whole process just screws up their windows installation horribly.
Never have tried it myself, I just block IE/Outlook/that POS Media playe/etc from making an outgoing connection in my firewall rules immediately after installing windows.

Um, your problem is that your running ME. ME is the worst Windows out there. I'd rather run 98 first edition than ME.

Ok, you need to start at the root of the problem. delete all the files in the windows directory, and install WinXP....

I agree with the previous two posters. Get rid of ME.

I tried ME at a university I worked at for a while. Nothing but problems.

ME is a piece of crap. I know some guys who used to test at MS and it was basically a rush job to update win98SE with some Win2K shell enhancements. On the other hand I have been running XP Pro SP1 for quite a while now and am VERY happy with it. I suggest upgrading.

UGH! 2000 would be a much better option than XP...

Not unless you're running a server. XP has a lot of improvements over 2000 in the desktop user arena.
