Already have a problem with a day old pc

I keep getting these like pop-ups in message forms and I have no idea why they keep showing up or how to stop them. Got this pc today and this is my first time us XP so I really don't know how to solve it.

Yeah, what's in the messages? Are you on a network?

it says messenger pop-ups but they seem like regular pop-ups that make your penis grow 1-3 inches in 1-3 days

Ahh. I'd run Ad-Aware on the PC if nothing else. That may help out. Sounds like it's simply littered with junk and spyware.

They're messenger pop ups, the program is for network administrators to message clients in their domain easily, but spammers are exploiting this service. here's how to disable it.

1. In Control Panel, go to Administrative Tools.
2. Once inside Administrative Tools, go to Services.
3. In Services, scroll down some until you see "Messenger" - you'll want to right-click on that and hit Properties.
Before you do anything else in that box, go to the Dependencies tab. It will take a few seconds, but verify that nothing currently installed requires that service to run. Any dependencies for other programs will be in the bottom; ignore the top pane.
4. Chances are you won't have any dependencies; if this is indeed the case, your next step will be to go to the General tab.
5. First, stop the service by clicking "Stop."
Give Windows a few seconds to shut down the service.
6. Then, in the dropdown list labeled "Startup type," select the Disabled option.
7. Click OK. At this point, you should have no more of those annoying popups.

if you rebooted since it started again, you probably stopped the service without setting its startup type to disabled

Some useful commands for services in WinNt/2K/XP/2K3:

net [start|stop] servicename, i.e. "net stop messenger" will do a one-time stop.

windows Xp and above have "SC.exe" which is also available in a Win2K resource kit. One useful command is for enabling/disabling services (see help for details.)

i.e. "SC CONFIG Messenger START= disabled" will disable the messenger serivice for you permanently. Good Luck!
