Windows Media Player Hassle

I downloaded my one of my favorite movies from the web today and I encountered a problem with it. When I opened it using Windows Media Player I couldn't fast forward or move the slider to get to the points I wanted. Is there some way around this? Its kind've annoying I would very much appreciate some help or tips anyone has to offer. Thanks

Sounds like the film was streaming and not indexed. What format is it in? Probably ASF or WMV, correct? If so then you can use a neat little program called asfindex.

if the movie file is incomplete then it wont be indexed properly, and therefore you wont be able to track through it...as great scott said there are programs that can fix the problem
