Can't view JPGs

I just got a new computer running XP Home and IE version 6.
Everything seems to work fine, but I fine I can't view on line pictures with the .JPG extension.

I have a couple of programs that allow me to view downloaded JPGs, but if I am on line all I get are REXs.

I can view other picture extensions on line, but not JPGs.

Any thoughts?

This is a shot in the dark, but try this:

Tools->Internet Options->Advanced

Scroll down to "Multimedia" and ensure "Show Pictures" is checked.

Sorry guys I tried both these options. Yes, Show photos is checked. That is how I am able to view other picture formats.
I Clean out my files and delete cookies at least once a week.
Thanks for the input however.

Any other guesses?

Check the registry. Back it up before making any changes

Find
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpe
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpeg
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpg

The keys and values should be:

Name: (Default)
Type: REG_SZ
Data: jpegfile

Name: Content Type
Type: REG_SZ
Data: image/jpeg

Name: PerceivedType
Type: REG_SZ
Data: image

Click the + to expand each of the three keys, and you should find "OpenWithProgids" and "PersistentHandler"

Each PersistentHandler key will have a (Default) key wiht a value of something like "{098f2470-bae0-11cd-b579-08002b30bfeb}" Don't worry if it doesn't match mine

Each OpenWithProgids key will have two values: "(Defualt)", a "REG_SZ" type with data "(value not set)" and "jpegfile", type "REG_NONE" and data "(zero-length binary value)"

MrSelfDestruct,
Under
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpg
I have:

Name: (Default)
Type: REG_SZ
Data: CorelPhotoPaint.Image.9

Corel Photo Paint verison 9 is the the program I use to open .JPG files when not in IE. Should I change this to jpegfile, or is CorelPhoto.Image.9 the correct value here.

The rest of the values are exactly the same as yours.

Thanks Again.
